killing two birds with one stone : George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down. Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Border. When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq . Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved.

There have been some points here that have made me shudder, actually not some, a LOT Some child brought here when she was five, may have grown up with an instilled fear of "the man", not understanding why, just taught to stay out of the way when it comes to authority, how much education did she get? what kind? did she even go to school?, did she graduate? I doubt her background included much knowledge about what is legally right and legally wrong, was she brought up in an atmosphere of MTV generation and freedom, maybe not, did she grow up having the fear of every knock on the door of the police? or did she have peace of mind growing up in a neighbourhood of entitlement. The thought that having 8 kids would just about make me run to the other end of the universe, should she have had abortions? or would that make it even easier to strip this woman of a family she obviously loves...and love whether you like it or not, knows no social or financial boundaries and neither should it. Take away the fact that she is "illegal" and Mexican....if she was a working mother, single mother, working hours in a crappy job, that someone HAS to do, hating every second of it, unable to afford the time and luxury of bettering her education, doing everything she can to raise her kids in a loving atmosphere, wondering how she is gonna make ends meet, where the next bill is coming from and how on earth she is gonna pay for it and the rent, , ........shes now not allowed to find the only bit of good in her life apart from her kids...love with a member of the opposite sex....omg the harlot deserves everything she gets because shes poor but wants to have sex too?? ...yes 8 is a lot, did she have access to birth control? did she have reasonable access to education about it? her faith obviously frowns on birth control and abortion....every way she turns she is screwed literally. The idea that poor people cant know what love or good parenting is, is severely flawed, and honestly quite scary. Should we sterilize all the poor people in the world? make it illegal to have kids unless you can afford to send them to college....... I think the kids already probably know that life is hard and a total bitch without taking away the love of the mother, the woman who so cruelly had others look after her kids so she could work and provide for them the necessities of life...How is that different from any single working mother sending her kids to daycare/babysitting???? ooooh that's right, cos shes illegal makes so much difference...... she is by default a lousy mother who shouldn't be allowed to breed. Oh and I NOT ragging on any single mother!!!!!! just wondering where it gets to be ok? Her kids have been ripped out of their home, put into alternative care, not knowing what the hell is going on, just that they cant see their mom or their family, how many people are gonna be able to love this family as they come...you KNOW that the kids are gonna be split up, how is that healthy?? or helpful in ANY way????, can you not imagine what that woman feels like, no probably not, its all her fault, she deserves everything she gets huh. what a peachy way to get into life. I'm not knocking any of you......I don't get the ideas you have but.... some of them are to me very strange and harsh in so many ways. I personally hope this woman and her family are back together soon, whether it is in Mexico, the US or elsewhere..... Lucy

Dont get me wrong I feel bad for this woman and her family, but the point remains....she is illegal and has never done anything to change that. I bet when things were good for her the thought of actually paying taxes was more of a joke to her than anything. And now that things got so bad, (a fact that could have possibly been avoided by accepting welfare type programs or something to that effect.....but wait she can't she's illegal) she wants us to help her in keeping her family here? Are you going to cry for the guy who cant find a job because of all the cheap illegal labor out there so he winds up in a life of crime then robs your house to feed his family? Of course not, because he was engaging in illegal activities and the fact that he robbed you......well illegal persons in this country are robbing American citizens every single day... but that's ok with you right? So, who else is getting nasty-mails over this thread? I went back and checked my posts on this one; I never said I agreed or disagreed with what was happening to the woman. I presented the facts on what happens when parents are deported, whether they can take their children with them, etc., when people were getting up in arms about her not being able to take her children. And I agreed with Smith because I feel it's ridiculous to go back a couple hundred years and pull out the "you're not a native american, so go home" argument. Sheesh. Cali

I still think we need to be checking the books of people likely to be paying illegal workers money under the table. And put the boots to them-since they are the actual root of the issue. Dry up the incentive for the illegals-and they will flee-and stop coming. After all,if you are a homeowner and pay for yardwork without checking for a green card-and you are required to report the work done by you for people whoi have them......an illegal is going to know they are going to be caught. And if someone in the nieghborhood that DOESN'T like seeing illegals tooling about in beat up pickup trucks is likely to report YOU for hiring one and not reporting-and you know you might face a thousand dollar fine-would you hire a liscecensed contractor instead-even if they charged more?

It happens all the time.Consider the Ford pardon of Nixon, W's intervention in the Scooter Libby case, and the , litterally thousands of "pardons" the governors and presidents give as their last acts before leaving office. Some of those pardons are legitimate, some less so. That's why they wait until they are goung out the door to give them. So the door won't hit them in the ass. I'm just saying, in this one case, which as I said is what the OP seems to be talking about, don't you think a little compassion would make it an easier world to wake up to ?

One of the major sources of Corporate welfare is the non-enforcement or eventual suspension of the law concerning illegal aliens. I never realized that so many people are in favor on continuing the practice of the government helping the bottom line of illegal alien employers. As long as everyone is content with allowing corporations to pay below competitive wages at the expense of both the illegals and US citizens the practice will continue.

She cannot support her children. They live in extreme poverty. The children are growing up without a sense of right or wrong (she is here illegally, plus she is hypocritical about her faith). She works part of the time (when she is not preggers and delivering), and so her children are left without a parent at those times. Her choice of male role-models is poor. It has been stated that they had minimal food and space ~ which can be grounds for being charged with neglect (beans and tortilla's ~ not my words or description of their diet, but the OPs ~ do not cover ALL the food groups). How often was rent put before medical or dental? Likely often. All of this COMBINED with her lack of taking personal responsibility, is what leads me to believe foster care is better. In fact, several on this thread want to be her enabler in this. So where are her parents now? Because I am curious to know if she elected to stay here. No. . . all the emotional hand wringing is not going to put her actions in a better light. Yes, the big, bad, mean, horrible, USA, wants to deport her. Because she is not suppose to be here, and until just recently did NOTHING to rectify that. Of course if we are so awful, I cannot figure out why she would want to stay. Cali has pointed out two ways for her to be reuinited with her children.
