*blushing furiously*

That was absolutely delightful and delicious!!! [;)] Oh, and yes you are!!! lol

I found a certain entertainment in reading the posts about "titles" at the end here. I am Lady Beckett. My submissives call me Lady Beckett, or Mistress. In public they will address me by name, and have from time to time, addressed me as "M'Lady". There are those that don't call me Lady Beckett when they speak to me, and that's okay. If we are in public, and they address me as they do when we are speaking in im, email, or on the phone, that's just fine. But if I receive an email from a submissive male seeking to serve, and he does not address me as Lady Beckett, that email will be deleted. In a public situation, I will address another, generally, as they have been introduced to me, unless they suggest otherwise. [;)]

MzBerlin -> RE: D/s Wannabe and what to look for (7/24/2004 7:37:23 PM)

As far as all this formal name calling goes, I do have to say this. If I'm posting a reply to Lady Angelika on the boards, I generally say Angelika. As for Lady Beckett, I think I have called her Lady B and Lady Beckett. Just Beckett doesn't seem to work with my perception of her. If He Who Must Not Be Named was Master He Who Must Not Be Names, I would probably just call him HWMNBN. It's about simplicity for me.

PS- I am still indecent, but have chosen to ignore it. Look all you like. Fine. I don't care. Whatever. [;)]

A lot of this has to do with comfort levels Berlin. We have had enough interactions on and off the boards and you know that I don't mind you calling me Angelika. In fact, I think you've called me honey bunny in chat! :p (This is a privilege only Berlin has earned BTW!)

You identify as submissive and I identify as Domme but we are friends. The Domme/sub dynamic doesn’t apply to us.

It doesn’t really apply on these boards neither as we are all on a level playing field when we post our opinions here. I think all passes as long as it’s done with respect. Also, we all work within our general comfort levels as well as comfort with a particular individual.

I think this is what the essence of it all is. We need to have respect for one another.

First, from one "indecent" to another, that is an awesome new photo! You go girl!

Next, I reserve a very special title for those who earn it:

Lord God Master Bastard, Sir!

And have been know to spit that out under extreme pain as I can be quite the smart-ass at times.

Just another form of resistance play. The harder I fight, the harder I fall, the deeper I go. Works for me.

Outside of play, I use "partner" and refer to that person by name. Nothing else really feels right to me. So I only connect with those who are comfortable with this approach.

The term "wannabe" is often applied by those that do not share the kink of the poster.

I see a difference between a 'wannabe' and a 'novice'. A novice is someone who's acknowledged they're only starting and don't claim to know it all, and can be dominant, submissive or both (or neither, I guess). A wannabe, to me, is someone who tries to portray that they know it all, and don't leave room for growth or understanding.

I don't include anything about my "position" in my nick here, because what position I feel comfortable in is person dependant. And there's more to me than whether I like to wield the crop or feel it.

so is this a good thing to be called by you or a bad thing ???

I personally love the appellation 'Evil/Sick/Twisted/Whatever Bastard' when applied to me by subs - to me its shows that they are acknowledging the time I have spent devising the devilish and devious 'tortures' then perpetrated on their bodies and minds[;)]

Apply usual caveats here

I would call one of my previous tops an Evil Sadistic Bastard. It really made his day.

Funny though, I have yet to have a boy call me a Bitch or anything like that in a scene. Maybe just "Oh Miss you are Evil!"... funny that.

Is it that we women have less problems speaking our minds? ;)

I've called Suz an Evil Bitch, and any manner of other nasty names on occasion. I've also turned around ready to slug her once or twice. Her response is generally to laugh at me. Kinda takes the wind right out of my mad-on. LOL

I've had guys call me names on occasion, usually followed by the promise that they'd get even later (the guys I top tend to be switches). Gee, that's such a threat to a masochist! It just encourages me to be increasingly evil.

iwillserveu -> Terms of adress (7/25/2004 2:57:49 PM)

Since we are talking terms of adress it must be time for my regular explabnation of terms of address even if it is off topic. I call everyone by their chosen nickname at first. Then if they post more than once I drop terms that mean something. For Example MistressDread is not my Mistress. She may run a household of 749 slaves, five subs, three switches, and one chicken and in her mind earned the title Mistress. To me she is not a Mistress to me.

Ditto the hoard of Masters/ Dom/ Dommes. The one exception is "Lady". That is D/s centered. It is a term one has unless they prove they are not worthy of it. (OK, it is a term a woman can have. LadyFred the submissive TV might not earn the title until his/her operation.[:)] We don't see many GentlemanGeorge but it'd be the same.)

Part of your collaring ceremony would probably include instructions that it is now
appropriate for you to add an M.

HWMNBN would morph into MHWMNBN.

It is all about High Proticle to me. Duh.

Just my opinion, could be wrong, but there you go.

iwillserveu -> RE: Terms of adress (7/25/2004 3:16:31 PM)

Would it be proper to try and trip up MzBerlin into saying the name?[:)]

Kinda like Myxlplik (or however you spell the psycho midget from the tenth dimension that occasionally plagues Superman. [Voiced in the cartoon by Gilbert Godfried in perfect casting IMO])

Milady A.-

I used to work with someone who would give this heartfelt sotto vocce "ohyou bastard" from time to time. actually warmed the cockles of my cold shriveled heart for a moment. Especially as she had, on our first meeting, expressed some doubts that I could really be a sadist-'but your so nice!' (BAHAHAHA! fooled another!). And a friend would call her master 'Mastard' from time to time<g>.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

I love it when you do that!! You're so cute! It's like watching a little toddler stomp their foot (which you also do in scene...ftr).

Besides, if you hit me I'd hit you back. HA!
