Status: offline 		I recently earned a punishment, and it looked like it was going to be put off for four weeks.  I couldn't stand it, and begged to get it as soon as possible - even if it meant being spanked in the back of my fan in a parking lot.  This hit my Daddy as funny, because when he was young he preferred to wait for his.  I would rather get it over with, no that the error was forgiven, or I punish myself much worse than anyone else ever could.

What about others?  If you know that you have a punishment coming would you prefer to get it over with right away or put it off?  And why?

Status: offline 		when I was a kid, the game was to put it off until it was forgotten or my parents thought that so much time had passed that the lesson wouldn't be connected to the act.

Now, if the punishment is warrented it had probably be administered while it's fresh in both our minds.  I'm not likely to remind him at a later date that he said that I had a punishment due, unless I was ordered to remind him.

Oh BOY do i understand that statement -- i think most of us do.

Personally, if an immediate correction and/or punishment is not warranted, and given the choice by Master -- i would ask to listen to his words about what he felt was wrong and needed punishment and then have it ASAP. For me, i will do nothing but self beat in my mind until the punishment is administered, asking wholeheartedly for forgiveness, hopefully be forgiven and show devotion to Master (and Master accepting all hopefully cherishing me back).

Bottom line -- for me i'd rather have it sooner than later.

Status: offline 		Sooner please. As a kid, I would be the first one into the dental nurses chair because waiting made things 10 times worse! 
If my Sir wants to  get my goat, he tells me he is going to punish me- and leaves it at that. He does not punish me when he is angry - and there are times when I wish he would. Not that he has had to punish me often - usually, i am a good girl.

Status: offline 		Preference is what Darcy wants.  It only matters if it matters to him and I was allowed the option.
But then, I do not disobey or displease Darcy, so I never get punished.  THAT is the only preference.

Status: offline 		i would most defiantly prefer sooner as later i would punish myself mentally much worse.
i hate being punished it makes me wish to never do so again. so far i have only been punished once by M'Lady and i hope to never to do so ever again.

Status: offline 		I've never been punished, because I've never earned one.  If I did, however, I would want it to be swift.  So that we could move on and both learn from the experience.  Too much stress and heartache won't serve us well at all.

Status: offline 		Personally i would rather that it was dealt with as soon as possible. Thankfully that is also the way my Master works.
Dwelling on an issue, problem or mistake can only blow things up out of proportion and cause more hurt. If you are anything like me.. knowing you have done wrong hurts enough.. Getting punishment out of the way puts it in the past as a lesson (hopefully) learned, which means both partners can move on from the problem as quickly & smoothly as possible.

Status: offline 		When Daddy has had to mete out punishment, He does it as quickly to the offense as practically possible.  He does not like dragging things out and wants it done and over with.  I prefer the same.

i get so anxious about punishments that when i have to wait i become a nervous wreck.  and then i make other mistakes and then it becomes more of a disaster.

Status: offline 		I suffer from anxiety. A situation where something horrible was going to happen at some unknown future time would be unacceptable for me. I'd be, and have been, a basket case until it was gotten over with. Someone who insisted on doing that to me, knowing its effect on my emotional health is not someone I could be with.

But honestly, we pretty much don't have a punishment dynamic anymore. We talk about things. Because usually it comes up to a misunderstanding. The time he told me to wear a short skirt and high heels without realizing I was chaperoning a school hiking trip comes vividly to mind. Obviously I didn't do what I was told and for a perfectly good reason. So there was no thought of punishment.

But most people don't punish to actually be effective, they mostly just want to feel like things are effective.

Status: offline 		Disciplining weeks later doesn't make sense. The error is done and forgotten by then. The effectiveness of the discipline becomes ineffective by then.

i prefer to get it out of the way immediately because i like to know what i've done wrong and that i've been punished for it and that's the end of the story. now i can try to do better.

usually he likes to wait - either because he's not planning on punishing and just wants t kind of hold it over my head, or because he can inflict pain on me later.

Status: offline 		I would be willing to wait until the cows come home!..I would be counting on forgetfulness...(I know bad submissive)..but the way I think about it is...if he forgets, or if he puts it off..then obviously not that important..so hence not that important to me either..I am not one to beat myself up mentally if I do wrong..to me it would most likely be an inadvertant wrong..I do not need the supposed closure...If the punishment came later of course it would be accepted..but I would respecfully point out that obviously my Dominant thought it was not of importance ,so effectiveness of punishment would of been lost and more than likely the supposed lesson to of been learned also lost....Tempting

Status: offline 		i would prefer as soon as possible, though he sometimes makes me wait for a few days, i think he does it on purpose knowing that i'll get anxious and jumpy with every loud noise. It's the waiting time that always gets to me, can't stand it. Even if i do ask for it, he won't always give it to me, due to his work circumstance or whatever, especially if it's on a friday and i have to wait until monday. Then he tends to tease me about it

Status: offline 		I put a great deal of effort into what I term eager immediate obedience and expect the same effort and consistency from my dominator. If disciplinary action is viewed as necessary, then it is the responsibility of the dominator to act appropriately and immediately.
