I grew up in that area. I served with men who served in that war when she was over there, and like I said earlier, those men treated me with the uptmost respect when I was just a smart mouth kid. *That is what my SGT MGR told me, and as far as I am concerned, that is good enough.* The interesting part is that Senator McCain was over there and tortured because he would not associate with that organization when ordered to do so. I think all this annoying garbage back and forth should be ignored... it is a natural consequence of having two strong contenders vying for the white house. I bet if Mitt Romney weren't a mormon or Guliani didn't run out of money, there'd still be a strong contender against McCain and a lot of fighting... We should look at our situation, which person will do the most concrete good for us once in the white house (economically, socially, leading the country to better etc), and vote that way. Shouldn't vote for someone just to stop the annoying blare over the T.V. /cyberspace. Think it's the media's fault for perpetuating a bunch of nonsense 24/7 and nitpicking insignificant (YET CONTROVERSIAL... ooooh get an audience for the media! ) things. Vote for who will put you and/or this country in a better situation 4 years from now. JMHO

For years folks have complained about boring conventions with the outcome settled before the convention started. Now we've got a contest, and folks are complaining. 4-5 presidents made it to the White House after being behind into the convention - the latest one being Bill Clinton. thornhappy

Clinto didn't go into either nominating convention behind. Both in 92 and 96 he held an absolute majority of pledged delegates in both and there was only a single ballot at each. As a matter of fact in both cases, as is customary, Arkansas was allowed to cast their votes out of order so that their votes would be the ones to give him the nomination.
