ORIGINAL: Level Focus is a pretty sharp guy; so's Raven. Anyway. Words mean things. They mean different things, to different people. A slave, to me, is one that is owned, and has no say so. About anything, from the mundane, to the most extreme. To me, no one here (even those that are respected and hold a place in my heart) is a slave. A brat, to me, is someone that is disrespectful. Are there brats in BDSM? Oh, yes, indeed. And not all of them are submissives. Now, there are those that call themselves "brats" that to me, do not truly fit that word. To me, they're playful. They do not disrespect, and if their dominants say "enough", then they obey. Promptly. If their dominants tell them a certain act or behaviour is not okay, they obey. Sometimes, it takes a while to reach that place, of obeying, without pushing. Each person has to decide if that progression, and the time it may take, is worth it. Bottom line: if you and yours are happy with one another, let'er rip. Ah, it was you who said that, I just couldn't remember when I sat there writing the post:) In light of how you define slave, I would say yes, the difference between a real brat and a BDSM brat is very much like the difference between a real slave and a BDSM slave. The description you give of the playful brats is pretty similar to my defintion of a brat, in this context :)
