Yup, I'd open the door. I used to have a master's lock sitting on my sternum. I work with the public and got used to explaining it in various ways. If it was really an issue, or bothered the person on the otherside of the door, you always have the option to wear a shirt or sweater that hides it. I used to tell vanilla people that the lock was a promise, that me and this other person had made a pact for complete and total honesty and that as long as that promise held, so would the lock. Honestly, something smaller and more discrete would have been a lot kinder to me, and easier and better for my job, but the person I was in service to picked what he liked. He liked seeing and feeling in his hand the obvious weight of the lock and the chain. It made him happy, and I wanted the symbol for the connection, in whatever form it was offered in.
