I think the mark is "664"...not the beast, but right next door.

Concidering that there are a few who decide that your a wannabe, poseur or phoney after they read maybe three of your posts, I'd say we all belong on some list or other..... (Note to the confused.. I use the nterm "Your" refering to everybody and not to a specific person)

MistressKay -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/6/2005 4:12:30 PM)

If you ever dated in the real world you will find that the odds of finding someone who is a good fit for you there is about the same as here online. Branding people with labels such as "wannabe" and "phoneys" isn't an accurate picture because they may not wanna be all that or they may be real but not in the way that you are hoping for... it's all about keeping things in perspective.

Online is fantasy - yes there are real people here typing at each keyboard, but for many this is as close as they will ever get to living out their fantasies. It doesn't make them less real but obviously not what you are looking for.

What you are asking for is a black list and that went out of style with the spanish inquisition - there should never be a list of names of people to avoid - can you just imagine your ex putting YOUR name on a list like that just because you upset him/her... black lists are all bad and have no place in society because the information is based on a personal accusation alone - these kinds of things can never be proven.

If you meet someone online who you believe may be only into online playing block them - it's easy and a quick way to move on. Life is much to short to get all worked up over a typed message from a total stranger.

If you only want real - try attending a munch or live discussion group in your area where you will meet people who have already moved beyond the internet and are exploring this in real life. Or you can always invite who ever you are chatting with to meet you for coffee in a public place with a safe call in place - if they aren't willing to meet you up front then you know not to waste your time.

I hope you take these suggestions in the light in which they were given - not as confrontational but as one lifestyler supporting another encouraging you to move forward. Life is much to short to waste on the frustrations of the past.

wishing you only the best in your journey,

Lady Kay

IronBear -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/6/2005 4:19:04 PM)

Actually, I do have my own personal black list which includes on line and off line, but that is a personal list which no one can access except me.

nephandi -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/6/2005 4:34:53 PM)

We all build up our peronal black lists, either consiously or not of pepole we like or dislike.

JustaTop -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/6/2005 5:33:56 PM)

No public blacklists these days?

Tell it to the credit reporting companies-I'm sure they will get a big laugh out of it.[;)]

mnottertail -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/6/2005 5:36:10 PM)

I have always wanted to be a phoney. You seriously need look no further than my profile. This is an example of what we are talking about here. I can assure you that somebody somewhere (or maybe alotta somebodies somewheres) consider me a phoney and wannabe.

There ain't nothing special about it. If connections on the level we are intimating here were that easy.......well, they wouldnt sell shrink wrapped jelly dildoes with the harlequin romances at K-Mart and Wal-Mart..........

Oh... they don't........see I told you I was a player and wannabe and phoney, I'll call you sometime.

Borch -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/6/2005 6:12:12 PM)

Thanks for all the replys. I was expressing my opinon of my feelings of running across so many. "The list" idea is just a rant. No judges but ourselves can make decide whether phoney or not. Please don't shoot the person expressing the thoughts of many.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/6/2005 7:03:43 PM)

Why do you assume that "many" have had the same thought you've had? And even if it's true--the fact that many people have had the same bad idea doesn't make it anything other than a bad idea.

So, am I the only one who get a special little personal email from Borch?

I hate to be a spoil sport and toss a bucket of iced water over you, but Black Lists do occure. Look at Commercial Credit reporting Companies for a start. Now I dont know about the US but here the Real Estate Industry runs lists of bad tennents. Police departments are known to have lists of most likley offenders for specific crimes. Also lets face it I doubt if there is a country who do not have a black list on known or suspect terrorist sympethisers and activists. I even know that some religious organizations have black lists of people they believe should be eradicated (mostly the extreem right wing groups)

hmmm somewhere between the inquisition and the patriot act there was some guy named mccarthy who did not fun things to people's lives in the 50's. while only 2 died, and 150 were "detained," the economic ramifications of the purges, done publicly, are still unknown. had i been one of the perhaps 10,000 people affected, i'd beg to differ on that public thing. so i am gonna speak for them here. i never did learn when to sit down and hush.

MsIncognito -> RE: Phoneys and wannabes (10/7/2005 5:17:30 AM)

I know that some switches post seperate profiles due to the silly knee-jerk reaction so many people have to switches. Perhaps if we as a community weren't so closed minded (on the whole) then they wouldn't feel the need to so.

quote:

ORIGINAL: KatyLied

I've seen more than one man with here with two profiles, one as "submissive" one as "dominant". I guess it's desperation. I've also seen a domianant posing as a "switch" and "slave", I am guessing so his sub won't find his cheating ass when she does a search for "dominant." It takes all kinds.

edited to make sense
