The hyperbole comes from the president's PR - he didn't use it personally. The BBC's translation, whilst accurate, is also too literal and doesn't take into account the nuance of the expression.

So no... there is no admissible form of racism.

Maybe, but it doesn't follow that this kind of crime against an entire population is understandable because of a few nutters who crash planes and explode themselves.

No, but when did logic and reason ever show up in the minds of those that hate?
 
And, not all that are afraid of Muslims "hate" them. Many are basically decent people that are just scared.

Potentially dangerous, yes. Absurd.... I would say "unfounded", or "misplaced", perhaps.
 
How to open some eyes....it has to be a joint effort. Media must team up with those Muslims that do indeed believe in peace, and show the world that Islam does not have to equate with violence. Some have did so, but not enough. The government must continue to differentiate between terrorists and peaceful Muslims. It has done so, but not enough.
 
There will be fear though, always. It's human nature.

I think you're underestimating the extent of the problem. We're talking about people who would say, "my dad fought the Nazis to preserve this land"....and in the next breath rant about Islam. They would never in a million years consider themselves fascists - indoctrination is a strange old thing. Apparently, a person can believe him/herself to be decent, yet believe it's "us or them".

No, just a small itch, Level, nothing major :-) .

For me, nazi is as good a title for these people as anything else. Nothing stops them from giving up on their beliefs and intolerant, ignorant fears, and learning not to be nazis, however.

Status: offline 		Trust me, NG, my lighthearted comment about 'nazi gene' was merely an expression of despair at the enormity of the task involved in killing this kind of thinking before it blooms - I encountered neo-nazis and national front members in person. They even went to school with me: needless to say, these were dangerous times. I don't underestimate the size of the problem...

Now..... do you feel the Muslim population has done enough to denounce the acts of the terrorists? If so, why don't we seem to see it as much as might be helpful? If it's the media and/or government holding things up, why would they do so?

For crying out loud... I just explained the 'nazi gene' was a desperate joke.

Start comparing communism and nazi ideology if you like, but it's distasteful on this thread - certainly, it won't make me take you any more seriously. They are incomparable. Back to the history books for you.
