ORIGINAL: CelticPrince This thread can apply to both sides of mthe slash as it focuses on persona not gender. sometime , just review the Nicks used here on CM or Alt, or Bondage and ponder why that was chosed to represent the person behind it. Dominants in the larger majority seem to feel a need to present an aura or macho bad as in some context and lately I see many subs proundly refering to themselves as some form of strength or brat persona, yet when one gets an opportunity to get to know these folks better, the nick just does not match the person. Any thoughts? CP Sure, some people might have nicks that don't fit their personality exactly, but perhaps they chose the name because it is something they aspire to be, or they fantasise about being, or it just sounded fun. This is the internet, after all, and is often a place where people try out identities or personae that they might not be able to express in real life. Also, someone might generally be a shy or unimposing person, but when they are doing a scene as a dominant they become macho or bad ass or whatever else is indicated by their nick. These are just tags we give ourselves on the internet, and as such shouldn't be given much weight... we can't really be expected to sum ourselves up in just a few letters, so why not just have fun with it. My nick (corvidae) is the family of birds that contains crows, ravens and magpies. I chose this because crows especially have characteristics that I identify with (they are smart, common but beautiful, they have a sense of humor (mythologically, and it seems in real life too), and they take care of each other (crows have large extended family units that watch out for each other).
