I was putting in some fluorescent bulbs today replacing some incadescent ones and realized that all though it is a very small effort, multiplied by those efforts of others we are hopefully making a difference.

Do you consciously make an effort to do something green on a regular basis?  If you do what was one item recently?  If not, would you care to make a commitment to doing something specific tomorrow?

I planted a bunch of plants and then set 100 ladybugs loose in my garden!  I'm committed to pesticide-free gardening, and the little dent it makes in the world

Did you check to make sure they are the right ladybugs for your area?

Well lets see, Reported suspected gasoline release to groundwater, Supervised set up of an Aggressive Fluid and Vapor Recovery event to remediate the damages caused by an earlier release. Called to ensure the driver for the lab packs of hazardous wastes collected at another clients location would be there as scheduled tomorrow.
But then again it's all part of the job. I chose this line of work because it is rewarding in this way as well. clients that don't care we drop quickly, clients that do care we help.
In the end both the business and the environment win.

I bought them from a local nursery...how do you check that?

I bought a car that gets slightly (1-2 mpg) worse mileage than my previous ride, but it looks alot nicer, so it has a positive effect on the asesthetic component of the environment. To make up for the car, I've replaced half of my light bulbs with compact fluorescents. I don't flush the toilet as often, do full washer loads and dishwasher loads, too. My house is a passive solar 'envelope' house, so I don't use fuel for heat except on rare occasions. Those CF bulbs kinda suck right now, but hopefully they'll improve...or better yet, be replaced by LEDs.

We only used the compact flouresent bulbs we like them they're brigher than regular bulbs but if they break they break into a billion pieces. We also have a low flow toilet. Which sucks it gets clogged really easy casue there's not enough water to push the contents down. We also hardly ever have the lights on..

The same stuff I do everyday. Carpool, compost, recycle, limit toilet flushes, short showers, don't run water when brushing teeth, full loads of laundry, keep the heat low, television OFF, limit trips to the stores.....common sense, money saving, living.

well, it wasn't today, but...

none of the three offspring got a driver's license and a car on their 16th birthday.  instead they were lectured that their generation needs to focus on alternative ways of getting around.

they were also taught to buy at second hand shops and donate to thrift stores, not for any economic reason, but to teach them to recycle clothing, small appliances, toys and furniture.

this slave does not use personal care products that have a petroleum base, or come in an aerosol can.

we don't make use of medical facilities (and the waste they generate) for vanity surgeries.

we use self-generating, all natural lubricants in the bedroom and dungeon.

edited to add from Merc:  we only use low efficiency automobiles, such as 8 cylinder SUV's and sportscars...that way, we will run out of oil faster and push some young bright engineer to produce a viable alternative.

They say that beef ranches are the highest producer of methane, even higher than the entire Los Angeles freeway during rush hour!  I find this completely unacceptable.  It is a waste of Mother Nature's glorious resources.

To combat this, I had a nice juicy burger for lunch.
