Pyrrsefanie, what does that Cyrillic script mean?

Roughly:

"You are sarcastic -- it is inevitable
You are artistic in your captivity
You are likeable in this role
You are synthetic to pain."

I couldn't agree more with you. There is no redeeming factor for the Nazis. It doesn't obliviate the facts about racist America, however. Facts can be pesky.

UH OH!  I smell a [sm=flamewar.gif]!!!!

Grabbing the popcorn for this one, anyone else want some?  It's bring-your-own-lawn chair, I'm afraid.

Are you joking? I'm going to grab your juggernaut of Bollinger and drown the flames in a few litres of happy bubbling.

And hey presto: no flames.

As celticlord would say, "It's in the order of things" that the 'pure spirit of friendly competition' (mon cul) should be hijacked by militant bastards with political motives.

Why, pray tell, would I say that?

Why wouldn't you ;-) ?

*yawn*
Answer the question.  The tap dance only invalidates your position.

Well then - why did you make one?

As long as its put in the proper tense as previously stated there is no disagreement.

It just shows that Merc doesn't like to be reminded that America was an incredibly racist, seggregated society where Jesse Owens was unable to take public transport or even walk into a bar. But I understand how it feels; believe it or not, even I enjoy being antagonistic at times [:D] .

However, feel free to disagree or be antagonistic with yourself.

Close!  Ukrainian.  [:D]  That's Ruslana, her previous releases have been more along the lines of folk-pop with a very strong traditional influence, but her last album is absolutely brilliant pop that tends more towards the R&B style.

For the English release of her new album she worked with T-Pain on a track.  Look her up on Youtube, she is absofreakinglutely gorgeous.

RealityLicks -> RE: Olympics/protests (4/8/2008 10:24:20 AM)

Merc, it's worth remembering that the majority of the black people who died in the death camps were the mixed parentage childrren of black GI's who remained in Europe after WWI.  Unlike in many states back home, if you fell for a French or German girl, it was actually legal to marry her.  Anyone can appreciate the irony involved.

mhawk -> RE: Olympics/protests (4/9/2008 5:22:26 AM)

i may get flmaed over this but it's also worth mentioning that the Nazis running the torch was the first televised not the first ever done.

RealityLicks -> RE: Olympics/protests (4/9/2008 5:32:50 AM)

Not sure about that, mhawk.  In '36, we're talking more about film than TV anyway - but I believe the torch relay was dreamed up by Josef Goebbels for the Nazi Olympiad and filmed by Leni Riefenstahl.  Torchlight rallies were all the rage, I'm told.
