wheresmybitch -> Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 6:13:05 PM)

I've been trying to meet my "dream" sub for about a year now. However, I have had soooo many disappointments. From being stood up, from people seeming so eager to meet and then poof, they disappear for good or for a prolonged period of time. It seems to be the same story ALL the time. I am beginning to think that a true submissive is a VERRRY rare find.

My question is directed to both dominants and submissives. I am curious to know which side experiences fakes, no shows, being stood etc more, whether the dominants or submissives. I am aware that both sides experience this... And please do share any interesting stories!

Try going to a local munch or event. You might have better luck.

Those damn twue submissives. . . always playing hide and seek.  Or would it be seek and then hide?

Seriously though, maybe it is you.  Are you giving off all sorts of red flags?  You should think about that.  After all, you are the constant in all of this melodrama.

Sirsinini -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 6:37:53 PM)

I will humbly say that the only person who ever refused me ~ when I brought to him a girl I really liked and wished to play with us ~ was an ex Dom.
It was me he wished not to see, as he claimed to be "Master" but he desired to have her in every way he had me.

I have never stood anyone up or been stood up.  Maybe the meet didnt meet with my expectations...so I learned expectations were not meant to even think about. And of course the exDom always had me whore myself out.

For 3 years before him..no matter with whom I made arragements with, the meet always occured.  Maybe I was lucky or it was fate.

Frequently and all too frequently though...  mail was NOT returned as well as interest lost.

If that is your real picture Ma'am and you are as genuine as my Sir is, it is their loss, NOT yours.  My Sir waited his whole divorced life (12 yrs) for me....  I am the lucky one.

Disappointments were my life, all the guys I had met were liars, cheaters, or fakes who didn't know what they wanted. I gave up. I decided that life was too short to let it all waste away worrying about Mr. Right who didn't seem to exist so I became a party girl for a while.

Then on 7-7-07 of last year I recieved an email, the name rubberpet caught my eye and instead of deleting it like I did most others I read it. He seemed nice and sincere so I wrote back. A month later I called him and it doesn't seem like there's been a day thats gone by where I haven't talked to him since. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and the best man who's ever walked into my life. Thank God his name appealed to me! What I'm getting at is I believe there is someone out there for everyone, sort of a match to a pair. rubberpet is my knight in shining rubber and is so much better than I could have ever imagined.

It seems like when your looking nothing ever shows, when your down and out and give up or stop looking everything falls into place. Just my opinion though. ~Lorelei

I have never stood anyone up or been stood up. The simple way to prevent it is to know the person well before you agree to meet. Worked for many of us it appears.

Maybe it's not the outcome it's the expectation you have wrong?
I don't think there is any such thing as a true submissive either, or a true dominat, or a true switch......see what I mean?
If I had a euro for every person who had bust my expectations wide open I would be a very rich woman indeed. (And then I'd have a loada trues to be sure).

LadyPact -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 6:46:28 PM)

Nope.  Haven't been stood up.  And I don't look nearly that good in a bikini.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 6:51:39 PM)

I've been stood up, but very very rarely.  Once a guy stood me up as part of his complex blackmail fantasy...he's on the other side, and OH yeah is he blocked.  <G>  Online, folks go *poof* all the time.  Part of the game, really.  That's why I try to set up meetings for places I am going to be anyway!

crouchingtigress -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 6:56:02 PM)

laura2161 -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 7:19:13 PM)

I have been stood up once before. We talked for a while, met in person in the middle of the week, things seemed to go well (NO PLAY) made plans to get together on Sunday evening. He called on Friday to make sure we were still on, I said yes of course and he ended up being  a no-show. And then went 'poof' on top of that. LOL

That was my exact thought as well.  [:)]

DesFIP -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 7:36:07 PM)

No such thing here. I talked to people as individuals not as things. I was only interested in people whom I could be friends with. I established a friendship first, then met to see if there was enough chemistry for more. There was and we're still together five years later.

domahpet -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 7:39:24 PM)

never been stood up.

slavekal -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 7:39:48 PM)

Lot of flakes in this life.  Doms and subs, men and women.  I have never understood it.  If you don't want to meet, don't make the date.  If you make a date, show up.  Common courtesy.

ThinkingKitten -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 7:50:05 PM)

FR:
I'm in the never been stood up/never stood anyone up category. Did call off one meeting once when I had misgivings about the individual involved, but did inform him a day in advance that I wasn't going to go..... got called all sorts of names for my trouble, which confirmed my misgivings... he didn't seem to appreciate at all that I told him I wasn't going. I guess he'd have preferred to be stood up ....

ChainedExistence -> RE: Who Does this happen to more frequently? (4/8/2008 8:37:39 PM)

Ok, here's my "stood up" story. I had a lengthy exchange with a "Dom" around the DC area. He assured me he was leaving in an hour on his 12 hour drive to meet me. I started to get concerned when no phone calls came along the way, and even more anxious when more than 12 hours passed without a word. I waited for the phone call that never came. I tried calling him, but there was never any answer. At first I imagined the most terrible things had happened to him on the way...Amazingly about two weeks later, he surfaced back on line....now, this is the good part. He claimed to work for FEMA and be part of the "shadow government" that was put in place after 9/11 and that he'd been suddenly called in to go "underground" and he was not allowed to call anyone to let them know where he was. Ok, sometimes I have been a shade naive, but that even stretched MY very vivid imagination! So, of course, Miss Research that I am, I looked it up...and not only was he not employed by FEMA, but even those highly critical persons who were operating in a more secure location were permitted phone calls to family and friends. It took a long time for him to admit the entire story was bogus, even though I called him on it right away. He said he just didn't feel ready, but couldn't think of a way to back out and save his "reputuation." It wasn't the only time I was ever stood up, but it was certainly the most creative story.
