That's so ridiculous! According to that article she didn't even call them monkeys, she said they were playing like monkeys! I correct anyone who calls my kid anything other than the given name or words like "child". Words like monster, brat, hooligan, little shit... no. I won't put up with it. But someone just saying something like "they're playing like monkeys" is completely harmless and innocent. I don't care what color they are!

I am having more than a little trouble figuring out how calling children swinging in a tree monkeys is racist or how calling a woman in the grocery Ma'am is sexist.

Whenever HM or I feed the birds, I always tell Him they are saying stuff like "look, the monkeys are bringing food" or "the monkeys are cooking on that hot thingie again" or "the monkeys are tying each other up and..." erm blush nm, you get the picture.

I'm curious as to why she interfered, they weren't in her yard. If she thought they might get hurt, why not go ring the neighbor's doorbell. She does seem to be a busybody.

I didn't read the article yet, though I do intend to take a look through it. Based on what I've read in this thread however, some religious types might argue that by calling humans, monkeys, that we are forcing the evolution thought process on their religious creationist minds. If they can't enjoy the stick up their ass, someone should shove it in a bit further! edited to add: monkey see, monkey do. It's ridiculous to feel the need to remove her as pledge delegate when she clearly states that she was referring to their actions and not their genepool. Though, even if she were referring to their genepool, I'm an evolutionist and readily accept that all of us, regardless of color, have a little bit of monkey in them.

Holy roadapples, Batman! Someone scolded a kid! It has to be racist! What a load of crap. I work with wee ones everyday, and if we had to watch our tongues for anything in a reasonable vocabulary (obviously not hate-filled typical epithets) that someone might construe as racist, they wouldn't have a single person who fits the requirements.

An old English term is "cheeky monkey" when someone just said something (usually cheeky and funny) or kids were giving a bit of cheek. It's never been said in an offensive way. It's getting to the point I think I'll just have to stop talking so I don't inadvertently offend someone.[8\|]

Read the article folks. It was the Obama campaign that found her words to be unacceptable. The Democratic party came and told her she had to drop out as a pledged delegate (for Obama), because his campaign (he) found it unacceptable. And this clown really thinks he can be President.
