Sanity -> RE: McCain: "We need more white people" (4/9/2008 6:52:38 AM)

Why are you projecting racism onto me, kitten. Is that an internal issue for you?

Imagine Sanity's reaction if the pictures had shown mostly black people at the meeting in question. The outrage!

Your sense of victimhood is quite something.  You need to find a source you trust and that can inform you that all candidates do this all the time.  Then you ought to accept there is nothing in the least racist about it.  It says: "Obama has white supporters and seeks more" - "these are Obama's supporters, can you imagine yourself among them?"  --- where's the racism in that?  Again, if there were no white people at the meeting, because it was held in the offices of the local chapter of a black separatist organisation,  then I'd have problem with it.

It may have been a speech, but it's a speech that will be photographed/recorded. Therefore, the selection of people is of importance. You may see it as a racially motivated move; but the fact is; it is one that is employed by all nationalities for many reasons.

There's a clear pattern here and if this were a republican campaign the reaction would be apoplectic.

But as it's a democrat campaign, you are apoplectic. Right?

meatcleaver -> RE: McCain: "We need more white people" (4/9/2008 7:10:38 AM)

Isn't this just politics? Politics, whether right or left or any other, has nothing to do with truth but perception, I thought we all knew that.

The moment politics becomes about truth, is the moment I drop dead of shock.

Sense of victimhood?

Look, why not stop your personal attacks right now. If your case is so weak that you can't present it without them then you had probably ought to reconsider your position.

No, no, no, no, no - bull shit. Any white republican caught trying to pull anything like that would be kicked to the curb, and rightfully so. The old "I want my audience to be more white / black" days are hopefully over. I'm clearly against racism, and I'm attacked for it here by the left - this is so bizarre...

Is says that Obama the politician who was supposed to be about change has an image to sell, and it has to be a white image. was the one he had too black???

What about a black-only church?

Sanity -> RE: McCain: "We need more white people" (4/9/2008 7:14:12 AM)

No, kitten, I'm not apoplectic - I'm giggling.

The overt hypocrisy I'm seeing here is endlessly amusing to me!

I do detect victimhood in your comments; it's a groundless concern as I've tried to explain twice.  I don't regard that as a personal attack but I do concede its something you don't want to hear.  As you said, the truth sometimes stings.

Please show me a politician without an image to sell.

cloudboy -> RE: McCain: "We need more white people" (4/9/2008 7:24:44 AM)

I've never seen a white person so obsessed with race.

It's hard to imagine a Republican campaign saying "We need more white people." [:)]

Why doesn't this thread get moved?

It's the same bullshit.

Actually, there's a couple of other people on the boards who similarly think that white people are an oppressed majority in America today, but shhhhh...

Thank you, Mods.

I have been trying to make a point for two days posing as a right-wing nutter (sadly, very close to the actual truth most of the time). I don't know if moving the threads is the best solution, but many supposedly political threads are really just empty pieces in support of racism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc. In other words, from the OP on they have essentially no content except as ad hominem attacks on public figures and defenses against such attacks. This is the usual mudslinging that goes on. I was just calling attention to it. But what's to be done about it?

Of course, while we are distracted with the usual nonsense real issues that could be intelligently discussed go ignored.

"Race doesn't matter!" (Except for apperances for TV cameras)

Sanity -> RE: McCain: "We need more white people" (4/9/2008 10:59:58 AM)

Again, not upset thompson.

Highly amused.

Even more so now that the Mods have put it beside SMC's gay-bashing thread...

Are we running out? Is there a whitey shortage? Did they include Michael Jackson in the count? How about Domi? Shit, McCain is white enough to be counted twice.

Now, I don't think that'd be the case, kittin.

Sanity -> RE: McCain: "We need more white people" (4/9/2008 3:57:36 PM)

The last black chick I had to turn down was because she said she could tend to be a pain in the ass, and she thought that any man who liked control had to be sick...

It had nothing to do with her color, and everything to do with her kink

Or lack thereof, whatever you call it

Other than those two things, she seemed pretty okay to me.

It's not a mere photo-op, it's a speech. They arrange their audiences by color??? That's racist.

I believe it was the 2000 Republican National Convention where convention center employees were shown in camera shots to give the appearance of a more "diverse" crowd.
