kittinSol -> The Left-Wing/Right-Wing Brain Connection (4/10/2008 3:27:43 PM)

Hippie reminded me of this study published last autumn: it's amusing, enlightening, and infurating - it confirms something I have suspected for a long time, which is that Right-Wing individuals are more rigid, aggressively inclined, and better organised than their mellow, laidback, Left-Wing counterparts.

quote:

Consider a recent study published in the journal Nature Neuroscience recently with the brainy titlte Neurocognitive correlates of liberalism and conservatism. The study, done in a combined effort by New York University and University of California, Los Angeles, looked a the possible cognitive difference between liberals and conservatives and was summed up thusly:

Political scientists and psychologists have noted that, on average, conservatives show more structured and persistent cognitive styles, whereas liberals are more responsible to informational complexity, ambiguity and novelty. (...)

Liberals, it found, tended to be less organized and somewhat indecisive (flip-floppers). Conservatives tended to be more rigid thinkers, close- minded, avoided new experiences and were somewhat more aggressive (war-monger).

I try to avoid being a memeber of the "sheeple's party".

Yanno?

The ones who listen to rhetoric and bullshit and beleive it's true? Without ever doing any independent thinking or research on thier own?

kittinSol -> RE: The Left-Wing/Right-Wing Brain Connection (4/10/2008 3:31:08 PM)

I know, I know.

Actually, Leatherist, I must say this: your comment was pissy.

My definitions
A PC Liberal: the world owes me a living and everybody is as deserving as I know I am.
Not only that , I know that to right the wrongs that exist in this world  its my duty to spend other people's money.

A Conservative: this is a tough old world, I must do my best to provide for myself and my immediate family  because there is no reason to believe anyone else should.

kittinSol -> RE: The Left-Wing/Right-Wing Brain Connection (4/10/2008 4:13:59 PM)

Underneath his silly hair, Seeks makes an effort at being articulate. Still, he displays the typical symptoms of the right-wing thinker, according to this article. Which of course is complete tripe anyway [:D] .

kittinSol -> RE: The Left-Wing/Right-Wing Brain Connection (4/10/2008 4:16:00 PM)

PS: how did you know about my tonsils, NorthernGent [:-] ?

Hippiekinkster -> RE: The Left-Wing/Right-Wing Brain Connection (4/10/2008 4:22:40 PM)

Well, kitten, I'm looking for a study (seen before) correlating CEOs and DSM-IV diagnoses. Meanwhile, here's this:
"The shamelessness of a narcissist -- barreling forward at everyone's expense, demanding more attention than anyone else at the cocktail party, barking opinions without any discernible evidence to back them up -- is offensive but also fascinating."
http://dir.salon.com/story/books/feature/2002/07/30/narcissism/
I thought this apropos.

Very interesting Q&A w/ the author of "Evil Inc." (FICTION)

A propos, maybe, but I bloody well hope it's not in correlation with me, me, me [:D] .

It did bring me a chuckle.  Which I assume was your purpose.

To seriously consider any of this article as anything other than a humorous mumble by a self confessed "liberal", you gotta be a brain dead "Lib", anyway. [:D]

Firm

Thankfully, my fishnet was large enough to accommodate a conshark of such enormous magnitude [:D] .

Stupidity and laziness are universal qualities. You don't need to be tied to a "party" to be ignorant.

Okkkkaayyy... I suppose earnestness is a necessary quality in this world.

popeye1250 -> RE: The Left-Wing/Right-Wing Brain Connection (4/10/2008 5:01:31 PM)

Kittin, this doesn't really apply to you and some others in this site does it?
You're "Left -Wing" not "Liberal."
"Liberals" would be "too republican" for you!
I'm right in the middle so I can pick and choose the best of both worlds.
