My main pet peeve with the women I meet is pretentiousness.  In the world of kink, there is an abundance of women like this.  It's a huge category, so I'll throw out some of my least favorite examples of some of the ones I have met.  (note: there are men that do this too, but they don't turn me off.  They just make me want to beat the hell out of them.)

1.  The pagan, wiccan, or whatever women that want everyone to know they are pagan, wiccan, or whatever.....You know these women.  They are the ones that use exclamations like, "Oh my Goddess!"  or simply "Gods!"  You'll always notice they do it extra loud, so that everyone hears them.  These are the same women that make a point to introduce their beliefs into a discussion at the most inappropriate time periods  (like meeting my parents for the first time, or even simply with a clerk at a clothing store.  Yes, both of those happened to me.)  People can believe what they want, but GROW THE FUCK UP!

2.  Women who had long ago dreams of being a singer and still like to act like they are an expert on all things music.  You know these women.  They burst into song at inappropriate time periods.  They are fanatic about karoke, and actually take the activity seriously.  They enjoy pointing out the lack of talent they hear at karoke events, and they share these opinions with everyone while boring the hell out of everyone about their expertise and experience.  What is the worst is that these women are usually horrible singers, and no one has the heart to tell them.  So they make everyone they know into co-dependents to their delusions of grandeur.

3.  Dominant women (I don't have the dating experience with subs.)  who want to drone on and on about their experience, and the spiritual enlightenment they receive from BDSM.  They completely take the fun out of it, and they make me want to choke them.

4.  Women in the medical field that enjoy boring me with their long ass stories about their job.  They make a point to use medical terminology and occupational slang around those of us unenlighted people who don't save lives.  [8|]

5.  Women who claim some sort of minority status because they like the chicness of being oppressed.  Usually these are women as white as I am, who want to claim native american ancestory.  They may very well have some of that ancestory in their background, but no one notices until they gladly point it out.  What's sad is that they don't realize that NO ONE CARES.

The above are my top five.  I could keep going.

Raechard -> RE: Personality turn offs. (4/11/2008 3:38:57 PM)

That be funny[:D] kind of.

All these qualities are human weaknesses anyway so there is no real point hating any of them. I've never met anyone who hasn't been one of the things listed in this thread we have such high standards for ourselves if only we knew how others viewed us.

Look I'm being self-righteous[:D]

Asmodeus -> RE: Personality turn offs. (4/11/2008 3:40:45 PM)

Many of the stereotypes listed before this post, but primarily people who believe that emotions and feelings are better guidelines than logic, fact and, reason.

Fortunately there are many people who are able to temper their emotions with reason; unfortunately, they tend to be far and few between.  Makes it a tough, but rewarding, search.

In the end, turn-offs can be stimulating.

Arrogance, whining, melodramatics.

Cowardice. It's unforgiveable.

Hard to forgive yourself for cowardice I suspect but fear is only one of those mechanisms created to keep us alive.

A pesky character trait can be irritating, and irritation is perverse in the way that it can turn into frustration, which in turn can bring serious feelings of powerlessness, which lead to... well, you know.

Opps that would be me then, i base things on instict, intuition and feeling. Sometimes too much but often logic is dull

Facing the music isn't necessarily about fight or flee :-) . Anyway, I'm not interested in a person who has such a sense of survival that they'll leave me in the lions' den just to save their own skin.

Raechard -> RE: Personality turn offs. (4/11/2008 4:03:07 PM)

There is no point in facing the music because sound is uni-directional.[8|]

kittinSol -> RE: Personality turn offs. (4/11/2008 4:05:51 PM)

You're so annoying, I'm getting turned on [sm=biggrin.gif] .

mnottertail -> RE: Personality turn offs. (4/11/2008 4:06:21 PM)

were it uni-directional you should face it, if it were omni-directional, you could here me sing this while standing on your head:

How long before I get in?
Before it starts, before I begin?
How long before you decide?
Before I know what it feels like?
Where To, where do I go?
If you never try, then you'll never know.
How long do I have to climb,
Up on the side of this mountain of mine?

Look up, I look up at night,
Planets are moving at the speed of light.
Climb up, up in the trees,
every chance that you get,
is a chance you seize.
How long am I gonna stand,
with my head stuck under the sand?
I'll start before I can stop,
before I see things the right way up.

All that noise, and all that sound,
All those places I got found.
And birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand?

Ideas that you'll never find,
All the inventors could never design.
The buildings that you put up,
Japan and China all lit up.
The sign that I couldn't read,
or a light that I couldn't see,
some things you have to believe,
but others are puzzles, puzzling me.

All that noise, and all that sound,
All those places I got found.
And birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand,
ah when you see it then you'll understand?

All those signs, I knew what they meant.
Some things you can invent.
Some get made, and some get sent,
Ooh?
Birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand,
ah, when you see it then you'll understand?

Now that's Coldplay.

Takes practice being annoying, I've studied long and hard, you can't get this kind of annoyingness anywhere.[8|]

edit: can = can't

How can Raechard stand on his head? Does he have extra feet growing out of it? I think we should be told.

Curiously of Tunbridge Wells.
