I'm a bit new at this. So, like is 'Red' a common safeword or something?

i can handle a cold shower after i stop yelling. lol i had a good Dom friend of mine tell me He wanted me to take a cold shower for Him and i had not problem with doing that till i got in the shower. ROFL It wasnt too bad, but i couldnt handle the cold water on my head it felt like tons of needles, but like a good girl i finished washing my hair. Took me all night to get warm...

i also remember being in church one Sunday and the preacher was talking about submission..and that was soooooooo NOT the kind of submission i was thinking about. rofl

Funny story. The only thing similar is that I'm used to compliance from women, and so am frustrated when a woman on the 'outside' gives me some lip; I've caught myself almost saying, OK, that's it, strip and on your knees! That might not go over so well in public or on the phone at work...

Yes. The most common one. There are others. It's a play on the traffic light thing. Green, OK; Yellow, Caution, things are getting uncomfortable here; Red, Stop Now!!!

Traffic light colors are commonly used. If asked how you're doing; a green means it's great, a yellow means you're approaching your limit and a red means stop now. Alternately you could use a 1-10 feedback, one being something you could sleep through, and ten being way too much.

Although it's not uncommon during play for a bottom to have trouble talking, so a top who assumes it's solely the bottom's responsibility to stop stuff will get a rep of being a cold person who doesn't pay attention to his partner and doesn't care about them. Body language is relatively easy to read, anytime someone curls up into a fetal position it pretty much means you should have stopped back a ways. The more relaxed the muscles, the more the person is enjoying it. The more tension, the harder the scene is for them.

Well, There is one time.... I already made a thread on it when it happened- I was mortified!

Here's the reader's digest version:
I was teaching on genetics (17 to 19 yr olds)- how traits can be dominant and recessive. Yup. You guessed it. I said "genetic traits can be dominant or submissive."

I turned bright red and had to muddle through and pretend I didn't say that.

One kid called me on it and I handled the interruption by using the old teacher standby of "let's stay on topic, shall we?"

More on-topic: Yes, I've let the Sir thing slip many, many times. When he calls, wherever I am I always answer the phone "Sir!" (yes, even now that I've been released)...I've gotten some funny looks but no one has ever asked me why I call this one friend and lover Sir.

I love this part of the country. Our neighbors have, I am sure, noticed there are 2 women and a guy living here, but apparently they just shrug their shoulders and go mow their own lawn and mind their own affairs. And this is a very small town.

The first bit of training that Sir ever subjected me to was a simple thing: Lighting His cigarettes. I haven't yet tried to do it for people on the street, but once a close friend who I also feel slightly 'under' was over and I reached out and lit her cigarette...for which she looked at me like I was crazy. Later, she watched He and I and got it, and then she laughed even harder.
