Annabelle I can see by your posts that you are searching for a divine hand that can guide you through life with love and understanding…I do hope you find it.

We seem to be reading each others posts wrong I believe. You are backing off a bit when in your first post you included Muslims in general and in your second you say ” not all, and not even most”.  I believe you were correct in your first post…most Muslims think that way. I am just saying they are wrong.

Relative freedom and your right to criticize are the bedrock of the American way.  Those freedoms are what our boys and girls are dieing for in Iraq…not to stamp out Muslims.

Our government could not of done a worse job...and the pandering to the fanatical religious right for votes has damaged our credibility worldwide. It has also led to this warped view of our motives.

So, if the US 'loses' in Iraq (by either a defeat or a withdrawal before victory), then the relative freedom and right to criticize of the American people will be taken away?

I don't think so!

I just don't see that it serves any current US interests to maintain an active military presence in Iraq at this time.

Our soldiers are fighting in Iraq for a variety of reasons that have little--or nothing--do do with life in the US.  If Saddam had WMDs, its likely that they weren't of the type that could have reached the US.  Even if they were, Saddam is gone, and those WMDs have not been found, and likely no longer exist.  If Saddam was in collusion with bin Laden, Saddam is gone (but, where's bin Laden?)  If the anti-American forces in Iraq are being funded by Iran, why not simply fight Iran directly?

But, the main reason to withdraw US troops from Iraq is so they can be redeployed to Afghanistan, to repel a strengthened Taliban, who should have been destroyed utterly, back in late 2001 and early 2002...

Hi Floggings4You

I am dead against our involvement in Iraq...I have been from the beginning. Our GOVERVMENT is fighting in the wrong place the wrong battle and  for the wrong reasons. Our CHILDREN however are fighting for our way of life...just ask them. I just hope they will soon receive the leadership they deserve.

Interesting how every intelligence agency in the world must be of the same faith. They all came to the same conclusion that Saddam had WMDs. Probably because he gave the impression that he had them. So in reality, the truth should be, "Saddam lied, Saddam died".
It just never ceases to amaze me the nutty thinking that goes on here.

Not true....The UN observers said there were no WMD's....The Germans said not to place faith in "curveball" because none of his story could be supported.

This administration continually touted the relationship between al qaeda, Bin laden, 9-11 and Saddam...Which there was NONE!

Anyone that can still back this invasion has lost the ability to intelligently reason....You have to be in so deep ...So much denial...It's become nothing but white noise....It doesn't matter whether they call it "The Surge" or a "Crusade" just another meaningless title given to a lost cause.

Yes, its strange how every rightwing warmonger still pedals the lie, 'Interesting how every intelligence agency in the world must be of the same faith. They all came to the same conclusion that Saddam had WMDs.' Even though anyone with a modicum of intelligence has never believed that lie because there was never one moment all intelligence agencies believed Saddam has WMDs.

Strange how people like Estring keep pushing that one. Are they really so stupid or do you think they really believe the nonsense they spout.

It is said that both parties pay people to visit message boards to communicate their party's ideology.

It is said that even portions of the U.S. government now actively use those same means of propaganda to maintain control over the people.

A lie repeated often enough, etc.

"It is said..."?  By whom?

But, if both parties are doing the same thing, no one ideology will hold sway.  How, then, can the government (usually dominated by one party) maintain 'control'...

And, just what does the US government 'control', anyway?  My wife has far more authority over Me than 'W' does...

Just in terms of swaying public opinion at key times. That's how you manufacture consent.
