I have to ask. Where did this get its start? Why is it prevalent among some members who post? Is this some secret protocol?

Please don't flame me for being stupid, many thanks.

I have only seen it mainly within the online community. Chat rooms, message boards, etc. From what I was told, and what I understand, many do it only as a way of showing a certain amount of respect to others. Personally, it confuses me lol..I have never used it except in the context of words such as Master/slave, Dominant/submissive.

LOL...well...geez....how the hell would you do it other than typing???? ....

I can hear the conversation now...... "capital s, small s, sir, would capital Y, small y, you mind if capital t, small t, this slave ...etc...ad nauseum...

Note to self

Lesson Learned:  Be careful what you write on here because it may come back to haunt you three years later.  What you post today may be gone tomorrow but it won't be gone for good.

I W/would L/like to/2 F/fuck K/katy.

From the looks of that pic you haven't aged a day....Amazing. You were such a polite lil' subbie back then...You had your whole future ahead of you. Now all that is left is this tired worn out, ragged woman. It's kind of sad.

Maybe DS4Dummies will do you....So sad that he was responding to a thread in which you are now the only living survivor who was one of the original participants.

ExSteelAgain -> RE: Y/you, A/all, U/us (2/27/2008 2:07:53 PM)

LOL...Domniguy will be on probation again before you realize it. Katy will answer in something profound in under 26 spaces.

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: Y/you, A/all, U/us (2/27/2008 2:16:16 PM)

It's not a requirement for BDSM, that's for sure.  Most people I've come across have just rolled their eyes at it.

The capital letters represent dominance, the lowercase submission, as far as I know.  Personally I'm too much of a stickler for proper grammar and punctuation to ever even CONSIDER typing that way.

SubbieOnWheels -> RE: Y/you, A/all, U/us (2/27/2008 2:46:20 PM)

I find it annoying. My screen-reading software reads it literally, "y slash you, w slash we," and it distracts from the meaning of what was typed.

I realize it may be a gesture of respect, or that it may be a form of "speech restriction" discipline. I wouldn't mind it if it were confined to, say, the Gor boards, where I never go.

If I ever neglect to capitalize an "I" in my posts, it is not as a result of being submissive; it's because one of my shift keys doesn't work well. I need a new keyboard.
