Red Rose Stories Closed by FBI

PITTSBURGH — Online erotic stories host Red Rose Stories announced on its site Friday that the FBI had forced it to shut down.
According to a posting on the site’s main page, Red Rose Stories is facing obscenity charges for posting stories that allegedly involved bestiality, water sports, scat, bondage and domination, S&M, slavery, threesomes, orgies and sex with children.

According to Rosie, who runs the site, such topics have opened the door to her prosecution.

“Trust me on this. I found out the hard way. I never thought I'd be in trouble for the written word," Rosie told XBiz via email. “I had no pictures of a sexual nature on my site, adult or otherwise. [It seems] the only legal sex stories are those that involve a man and a woman consenting to missionary position sex in a dark room.”

While I agree that the nsf could use support,I feel that is a bit paranoic John. The afore mentioned site was merely stupid-they allowed literature to be posted that was clearly illegal. Collarme limits content to adult,consenting humans.

CollarMe is probably already in violation of the law since they don't have "affirmative identification" (copies of driver's licences, birth certificates, or other government issued IDs) that prove the people in the pictures are not under 18. Since they allow photos showing breasts and breasts have been ruled as "indecent" there is already a certain risk.

You know it's funny how many "stupid" people there are around.

But collarme can probably circumvent that by pulling the titty pics.[;)]

And you know, a lot of this never would have happened if the online porn industry weren't such total idiots with their pushy advertising. I can see where parents would be upset at getting "f**k me" spam in thier inboxes,or granny watching a four year old looking for disney stuff online,and getting an unwanted porno pop up-which the kid then asks her about.

This is the sort of crap that gives conservatives liscence to go after the more "extreme" sites.

Check the list. At least one site that has been attacked was text only. The neat thing about indecency is that it means pretty much what the cop at the door wants it to mean. Compared to that, the fog surrounding "obscene" is clear as glass.

But you have to admit that they base most of thier supression campaign on "protecting the children". For that, I DO blame the prono industry for thier greed.

And most kids over first grade level CAN read,so that wasn't going to save them from improper or illegal content either. I'm not defending the censorship effort-just pointing out that they have been given a reason to DO, it by the practices of the pornography industry-right or wrong.[:'(]

It's a nice concept, but run through the list of closed sites and tell me how many of them you've seen in popups. As always the government is going after the weakest. I hate to bring up Iraq but it's a lot like the concept of "rounding up a bunch of ragheads because terrorists have shot at us." Ethical actions are selective.

Your "fault" concept presupposed the ones who are attacked are the same ones who have behaved inappropriately. The "porn industry" isn't a monolith. It's made up of individuals. Claiming they are all at fault for the behavior of some is an uncomfortable slippery slope.

Frankly, I'd support a ban on all commercial email based on the current do-not-call list with an additional requirement that companies are limited to using their own URLs and cannot use "throwaways." I'd also support a total ban on popup software. It's just not the porn ones that are annoying. There is also a law in place that allows a person to declare any snailmail from any source to be "obscene" and the sender is forbidden to send any further mail. (I used that years ago to get off Jessie Helm's mailing list.) It allows the individual to make the decision as to what he or she doesn't want to get and what companies he or she does not want to deal with.

Aim the gun at the bad guys. Carpet bombing is not a good way to deal with a mugger.

True enough,but the carpet bombing was given the excuse by a few bad ones. Then the justification was there to go overboard. It's all based on fear mongering.

Iraq was the same way,a flimsy and unsupported premise was used as an excuse,and now the one who used it cannot back down-or he will face retribution for his incorrect actions. Currently,he is marginally supported-but I think he realizes that his fisaco with the hurricane effort has cost him enough brownie points for the entire thing to come crashing down around his ears-his base is eroding. Trust in the goverment's ability to "protect us" is now being seen as the sham it has been.

And the fact that several of his "red states" are effected by this is even worse-many there are now truly sorry that they voted for him. It's going to effect how they vote in the next election.

He continues to cover his ass,so long as he holds a key postion that allows this by law.

But once he is out-this boy faces some serious consequences-but it still doesn't account for the damage he is doing in the meantime. That always seems to come after the damage is done,in the "tryanny of the majority".

I am a firm believer that we should take certain precations to protect children from seeing certain things, but we have to draw a line somewhere, and we have way passed that point I think. The government is taking advantage of age old laws that have failed to remain current with the change in technology, and social trends. While BDSM was once a vulgar and disguting activity when these laws were written is no accepted in many circles. Gays have come out of hiding and now even hold seats in congress. I admit that I am young, but I can't believe how much this country has changed around me. It seems like every time I turn around I find a new restrcition on our freedoms. We can't take pictures of things that a select group may object to, we can't write about it now either. As a member of the military, we are now even restricted about what we can write about while we are deployed to Iraq. I love this country to death, and am more then willing to die to defend it, but I honestly can't believe the direction that we are headed.

Collarme deals with subjects that could be considerd Obscene by the definitions the FBI is using.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a free site or a pay site or what ever. A subject about a whipping scene or even fantasy could be seen as Obscene if they are going by just text.
my hope is they lose a few cases and go back to looking for Bin Laden or something

I remember back in the mid-90s when Prodigy suddenly shut down all the adult discussion groups after some right wing pressure. Many people where thrown out of contact because they hadn't made note of email addresses.

If CollarMe is shut down or shuts down, it will be worse because the CollarMe email addresses won't work even if people can recall them.

I would advise people to share external email addresses in case this happens. If they don't have one, it might be a good idea just to get a yahoo or hotmail address for this purpose.

I personally feel that the government at this point has it's priorities severly mixed up. With a rape that occurs every 12 secs. and a murder every 3 mins. in the U.S., who gets tied up and their bottoms spanked, etc. has now become more important than so many other more important and pressing issues. The initial guidelines for the law were based on record keeping practices. It has now evolved into photos and film content that can be construde as obscene. What for one person is obscene, to another it is art. A photo of mine was recently presented at a gallery showing here in Columbus. It was of myself and a female submissive with the title of the photo "The Closeness of Punishment". So perhaps it is in the eye of the beholder. Not to mention that this fetish/alternative photo exhibit was in a vanilla location.

I am very much for the protection of any children. I am a mother of a teenage son. But it sadly now seems that sexual desires, erotic photos and writings from a standpoint of fantasy are no longer covered by the 1st Amend.

I think that this snowball (so to speak) has begun to roll and is getting bigger and bigger.

What is happening as a whole.....is shameful on so many levels.

Well, I am in agreement with you about the govornment. Fortunatly corrupt govornments fall, unfortunatly it gets Really bad before that happens. Look at China and all of it's dynasties, it's a cycle and this cycle is starting in America. When I read about things like the patriot act and the curtailing of the first amendment, I can't help feeling like I'm in England and someone is nailing a proclomation to a door stating what is wrong and corrupt about the structure of which our day to day acivities are judged. I know that Martin Luthers argument was religious, but I kind of think that this problem is too. Our very culture was started by the Puratins, and is currently controlled by someone who is unable to think outside the concrete developmental stage were everything is black and white and That is the Way It Is because it has Always Been That Way. Of course our "freedom" is being affected. I am not trying to insight riots. This is just how I feel. [X(] Unpleasently, I have no idea how to fix it.

Hello all...
I am as well deeply disturbed by where the nation is heading. This censorship is appalling.

While I am utterly and totally against real people harmed against their will, STORIES harm no one, even if the characters written about are children. I am opposed to any ACT that would harm a child, but prosecuting the writers of stories is to me, criminalizing THOUGHTS.
People can THINK as they wish, and to me that involves fantasizing over an authors works. The writing of a tale involves NO actual child, no actual person is harmed against their will.

I myself may dislike intensely the subject matter, but as it harms none, and may even help people NOT to harm real people, it should be allowed in a society which CLAIMS freedoms.

Although i've known this for a while, i heard on the radio this morning that all yahoo user chatrooms were shut down and only adults were allowed into the chats. i knew that the user chats have been shut down for awhile, but limiting adults to the chats is a new one. Does anyone know if the bdsm/fetish/bondage yahoo-created chats are still up? i'm at work and can't check.
