This is Darcy

Art, of course, takes many shapes and forms, but this particular 'exhibit' does nothing for me, except leave me with the impression that the artist is merely an attention seeking individual who will only get said attention by doing something controversial.

As for the 'subject matter' itself, I find the whole thing distasteful, moronic and devoid of anything genuinely creative.

I am another that will not click on this link.... I find the idea  horrid ...... but will agree that it is her right to make this choice ...as it is mine to choose not to see it nor support it in any way ........I also wonder if the emotions that are on hold for now will surface sometime in the future and what effect they will have at that time.

I can't bring myself to click the link, but as a woman who has lost a child, I'll come right out and say I'm leaning toward "indignation" and "disgust" right about now.

I've also lost a child, so this thread just... gives me shivers.

I don't know that I'm capable of feeling indignation right now simply because the mere thought of it makes me want to curl up in a ball for a few hours.

Good question - perhaps the mental consequences of her actions will be an intricate part of making her body and mind her project...

this actually reminded me of a simaliar art show right now
(both which disgust me, but who am i to say what art is, i do however know what is humane)

the link below is an art expo, where the artist ties a dog to one end of the room and places a bowl of food on the other side of the room out of reach of the dog. the expo is watching the dog die of starvation, it was to show how a dog dying in the street goes unnoticed but yet in a gallery it is the centre of attention.

If someone did this with their pets it would most likely be a felony.

There is a difference between inflicting something like this to a non-consenting animal and inflicting such a treatment one oneself. I'm not even sure it would be considered a felony, were it done to a pet: have you checked the law?

Cripes, I didn't realise I was that scary.

Anyway, embryos don't have a say. It's the way of the world. Look, I don't like the idea either. It's terribly lacking in esthetic morals, but it's her choice to do that with her body - all I can argue is that it's questionable from an artistic point of view. The morality or lack thereof of her decision is completely up to her.

Given the natural course of things a fetus will never turn into a shoe, or a desk...
Oh, and I'm not screaming; just stating a fact.

Anyway, under current law she has the right to do this, that isn't in question, but it appears to me it is just complete and total garbage, driven by a desire for attention. What are we supposed to learn from this anyway? That it's fucking disgusting? That's about all the knowledge I could think of.

Yeah, the problem with "artists" is that anyone can claim to be an "artist", and anyone can label anything "art", and somehow it's supposed to be deep and spiritual, instead of fucking retarded.

I remember my sixth grade art teacher telling us a story about some now-famous artist (I want to say it was Manray, but don't quote me on that) that was so fed up with the art world he decided to hang a toilet seat at a competition to show his opinion of the whole thing.

This backfired when he won first prize.

I think that any of us that have lost a child will find this abhorent for many reasons ......and the worst part is that it triggers hurtful memories for us ......in what is seemingly an uncaring way

More power to her.

I'm slightly intrigued how the piece will look. Not the videos, just how they explained how she'd be displaying the blood. Over cubes? Huh.

(((hugs))) for those of us who have lost children...

and the woman who decided to do this will likely have a different perspective if she ever chooses to give birth.
