MasterKazarik -> What BDSM/Erotic Art and sculpture do you have? (4/17/2008 10:01:30 AM)

Good Day everyone!

I have gotten to a point in my home that I wish to decorate it a touch more.. I want to incorporate some very tasteful BDSM art and/or sculpture..

I would be very interested in know what others have done? Do you have a piece you are really fond of? Do you know of some good websites?

I am currently designing a new dungeon for my household and redoing my household. I want to add a touch of the lifestyle, but I also wish it to be classy and not outright pornographic.

I would be very interested in hearing from others who have taken similar steps..

I have a lithograph (29/50) by Olivia, of Bettie Page, called Pretty Peepers (it's Bettie, on one knee, with her hands discretely bound with pink ribbon behind her back).  I also have a pen and ink done by a local artist friend of mine (quite well known in the area) of me, in a waist cincher.
An actual cover of New Yorker magazine (framed) showing people in a club.. when you look close you notice that some have collars, corsets. and one is about to fling a whip..LOL

We do not keep promiscuos style pieces in the home due to our saplings. However I have some marble sculpture. One, a bust of a submissive female with a collar, and another of two slave girls relaxing that is nearly complete.
Both are done in an unobtrusive style not prominent as BDSM pieces, though apparent to those with interest.
If you are interested, please feel free to send me a message.

I am about to completely redo my BDSM website because it sucks.  One of the things I am going to add in are a how-to section covering lots of fun stuff to do.

Since you are interested in pictures and paintings, here is something fun to do.  Take crown moulding and make oversize/wide picture frames.  Hidden behind them are your hooks and mounting points for a folding St. Anthony's cross.

I will of course make such items on a custom basis but between the cost of labor and shipping few can afford it and so I want to at least make sure if people do it on their own they make them as beautiful as possible.

We tend to have our own works up and I am about to work on some hand coloured prints in the future if you are interested, so feel free to contact.
I think people tend to miss out on small items - coasters, candlesticks and larger furniture itself - even a St A's cross can be displayed beautifully as a piece of art itself.

Imagewise - I recommend Nick Kushner(dark and gothicie), Royo(fantasy), Marek Stan(photoimages), Igor Amelkorvich (rocks for black and whites) - Helmut Newton(nuff said).

Enjoy

Mostly books - which I have to keep out of my well stacked bibliotheca, curious little tikes being in the vicinity. The most graphically interesting is "The Spider Garden" by Michael Manning . And a few Taschen books, the funnest one is an "Encyclopaedia Erotica".

See and I thought the St Andrews Cross in the Corner of the Apartment was ART enough.

Perhaps the Fucking Machine that andi and the girls had thier eyes on might be the next Piece.

Seriously though I find BDSM art to usually be Obvious and pretentious. However I have found African Art which is VERY BDSM-esque looks beautiful. The Problem I have is that when it is OBVIOUSLY BDSM it is USUALLY OBVIOUSLY BDSM.

I did know a Vanilla Guy who bought a Ciric (Sp?) and Thought it was interesting and so Mounted it in a Shadow Box when I saw it I was "Oh are you lifestyle?" to which he said "Excuse me?" I said "You have a ciric in that shadow box are you in the lifestyle or just like Gor?"

He had NO idea what they hell I was talking about and since I was already invested in the conversation I explaind it when I was done he was Horrified and took it down and oddly enough avoided me for quite some time till I just stopped seeing him again.

Remember the Rule of Art. People are going to ASK YOU ABOUT IT. When they do you will need to have an answer you are comfortable giving.

I suggest finding a SYMBOL that is Tasteful but has Meaning to you. Andi and I use the Dragon and Boris Valliejo Art because it is at once pretty and also usually primal in some way. It works for us and when children visit they don't ask why there is a Dog Collar on the wall or why there is a Girl on her knees in Marble on the coffee table.

Just makes things easier for us

All the BDSM related art I have here are all photos that I have taken. Most of them are of Fox, but I do have a few of other models. I plan on adding more as I take other photos. We keep them very low-key since I do have mostly vanilla friends and all vanilla family and I dont want them freaked out by my decor.

I have two large tattoos that fall into this category. I figured they can't get stolen, don't have to insure them, and were cheaper than most other art forms. Just My thoughts.

I collect natural forms that look like mini sculpture....I have one amazing piece of 'chalk'...found on a beach in the same area as the White Cliffs of Dover....it really is a white female torso 'twisting'....about 7 inches high. All of these pieces are between 7 inches to one foot high: I have two pieces of flint stone that are similar but more edgy. I have two pieces of black soap stone: one is a figure curled within a figure and one is heart shaped but of two heads kissing.
I have a ceramic 'goddess'....all belly and tits. made by a student as a gift....biscuit fired clay. These are dotted around and hiding in my small garden.
My favourite mezzotint is by susan E jameson (spelling?) and is entitled Eve: a double helized snake, below a naked Eve embracing her own body.
I have a wooden piece depicting the goddess Shakti.
But I was also a fine art student and an artist myself (it seems like many years ago) yet I have only one work of my own which didnt get sold....i used to work quite large on re-cycled paper. I especially loved old advertising hoarding paper (which had been torn down) as the colour screen dots are quite large. I would lay down the first lines (drawn from life model) in wax crayons over the top of the cut up ad paper and then 'smudge' the softest pastels to create the form. Different movements were created by tearing the drawings and juxtaposing them together. I date this back to what I call my 'queer' days (lesbian) and a large series entitled Images from women.
I rememeber her body and the way it felt from the way her breasts are drawn-sculpted.
I love the idea of creating 'art' from recycling materials.
I am still queer and an artist but not so far out as either these days.

Well I'd rather explain a girl on her knees in marble to the kids than a shark caught in a tank aka The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living by Damien Hurst.

I conciede my original statements.....

Art can just be Creepy Period.

I decorate with Candles and Boris Valliejo Prints.

Sure the Prints might have a nipple showing here or there but at very least you know what it is supposed to be of and at least you aren't trying to guess what the artist was eating for breakfast the day that they made it.

Art can be right out creepy at times.

September Morn by Paul Chabas.

It reminds me of submission and modesty and I love the soft and muted colors.

It hangs over my bed.

I am a recent graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute--I majored in painting--and I am available for commissions.  I can work from imagination, photos, or from life.  I can do portraits in charcoal, or in oils, or sculpture.

I'm in the lifestryle, so am very comfortable with subjects non-lifestyle artists might not be.

Prices and references on request.

TwistedLeather -> RE: What BDSM/Erotic Art and sculpture do you have? (4/17/2008 2:14:50 PM)

We have a special charcoal sketching that i drew myself. It's pretty simple, and self explainator for those who know us. The whip in the drawing is because we make whips together. The roses are for our constantly budding and growing love, and the collar... well, the collar is the symbol of our dedication to each other. In the upper right hand corner is a poem i wrote special. Simple and elegant, meaningful to us both, and not inapropriate for anyone else to see... lifestyle or not, children or not. Besides that, we have our whips, paddles, crops, leather masks, and our work space cluttered with various odds and ends.

punkdom -> RE: What BDSM/Erotic Art and sculpture do you have? (4/17/2008 2:18:46 PM)

I try to stay away from the overt BDSM works, just not my style. But I do collect a lot of graffiti and modern artists who include BDSM themes in their work - plus much of this stuff is appreciate in value very fast...

"Nikers" by Nick Walker is one such example...

Popular graffiti artist Pure Evil also has done several BDSM oriented pieces that are steadily appreciating...

One is Latex Bunny Girl

Of course, if you're into more realism, there is a little known emerging artist I can recommend named Jason Levesque...

Here's his photography...

[mod edit image removal]

and here is his prints... Very cheap... $30 range, but not Signed and numbered.

Of course, my favorite BDSM artist if you have cash to blow (and by cash, I mean $10K at Sothebys) is Robert Mapplethorpe...

You can also do the whole vintage pin up thing. There are a ton of pin up artists out there. Vargas is one of my favorites, but probably not dark enough for most peoples tastes, and definitely not for dungeon walls...

Perhaps the most iconic BDSM artist out there at this point is Hajime Sorayama. His work also retains value quite well. You may recognize this piece...

There a billion more.

As for photographs... there are too many photogs to even begin to mention - plus I'm more of a painting guy myself. I recommend looking at the various fetish art blogs that exist out there to discover photogs you like. You can also just buy random photos on ebay in their "Mature Audience" section.

Hope that helps. I know I'm leaving a billion people out.

Maplethorpe is way too obvious.....
Delia is obviously a woman who knows how to use a whip.
