I have always heard that our community has a lot of members that are of what I would call the intelligent geek factor. I was wondering if that was true so I came up with this poll. Select any of the choices that are true for you. I am not sure what overall score will dictate our geek factor yet. (yes I know these are somewhat stereotypes but I mean it as innocently as possible)
Edited for my morning typing problems.

Ummmmm, what if I need to check more than one box? Like 4-5? (And it's not poetry, but I do write...)

Signed,

A self-acknowledged geek and bookworm!

ETA - Make that 6-7. I've been to a number of cons and cosplayed....

I am amazed there is nothing about math, physics, strategy games, video games, or computers on your list.

I think you have missed a large segment of the geek community.

This is true, I will have to rectify this grave injustice to the geek people!

There problem solved. I came up with this poll at 2 am while I was trying to sleep last night but thinking of the forums so I guess I shouldve rethought it better this morning. :) Thanks for helping on that one.

Why limit it to anime conventions. Some of us older types were going to Star Trek cons back in the 70's.

Hey! Only poetry? Geesh, I KNOW I'm geekier than that !
Yep, I'd say I've seen a pretty large proportion of  what I'd call "geeks" --  out of those into D/s or Master/slave relationships, or even the transcient  role-playing  of Tops and bottoms.
As a "pleaser" personality, I HAD to be a good student in school! I HAD to avoid having teachers be upset with me. I craved their approval. Intellectual geekiness? Oh, yeah.
I also now realize that developing a strong intellect helps insulate me from being so vulerable to all my powerful & scary feelings, trusting too deeply / too soon, and it helped/helps me hide how gullible I am from predators, --- I wish the tactic worked better there though....

I would have added other things to the survey, like reading the encyclopedia for fun, Sci-fi buffs, not fitting in with the cheerleader cliche', enjoying the thoughts of Stephen Hawking,... stuff like that.

I checked two and debated on whether or not I should check the RPG. Technically, I have played one exactly once, but it wasn't sci-fi/fantasy based. I was an IRA terrorist on loan to the FLQ on a mission to assassinate the then Canadian Minister of the Interior, Mark McGuigan. The FLQ guy left me to be ripped to shreds by attack dogs. Okay. Yeah, I should have checked it.

No A.P. classes but I was the first kid at my school to ever win a National Merit Scholarship. And I was vp of the Myopians, the library helpers club. Surely that counts for something?
