Vendaval -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 12:14:20 AM)

For the sub/slave/bottom I believe it is safer to remove glasses or contact lens before a scene.  A wrong move or the sweat on the bridge of the nose can cause the glasses to fall off.  And I don't even want to think about trying to find a lost contact in a dark dungeon space!   [8|]

chamberqueen -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 1:08:52 AM)

I take mine off for a session, or my Master gently removes them if I have forgotten to.  I see it in ways as a partial blindfold.  : )  Your trust in the other person grows because you both know that you can't see well.  He sometimes has me put them back on during the aftercare.

spinninsweetness -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 3:15:49 AM)

Oooh a topic I'd considered too... as a non-practicing sub-type also...

So thanks OP, for reading my mind. Good skill!

On the flipside of this issue, I don't wear my glasses all the time, only for reading, but they are cute as hell on me.  My Lord loves it when I pull up my hair, put on something sexy, and slip on my specs.  Very naughty librianesque.  [;)]  Great care is made to make sure they are available for his visual pleasure, and I trust him to know when to take them off if, or usually when, things get rough enough to require such.

A very simple, yet caring gesture that He's looking out for you.   [:)]

greetings termsconditions,

much like you i have difficulty seeing anything without mine. i'm nearsighted, but i'm -really- nearsighted...thankfully i can make out stuff if it's really close, although blurry, so most of the time it's not a problem - i just take them off before we get into heavy play, and if i have difficulty seeing something, master either points and laughs or helps out. :) i'm used to closing my eyes and/or being blindfolded during play, though, so it doesn't really bother me. my sister wears contacts but they scare the bejeezus out of me personally...and besides, my glasses are practically like part of me now. i don't recognize myself without them. so...they're staying, unless he gets a wild hair and wants me to get contacts all of a sudden.

respectfully,
annabelle.

My girl wares glasses. When I am going to play, especialy impact play, they come off. *I* put them somewhere safe and *I* give them back to her when I am finished rather than her having to try and hunt for them when she is likely to be spacy anyhow.

I rarely wear my glasses in public (they are strictly for right before I go to bed, and first thing in the morning until I am coordinated enough to get my contacts in).

When I bottom, I leave my lenses (soft) in, unless there is going to be a blindfold involved. Then I take them out to avoid having to try and fish the lenses out from the top of my eyeballs..LOL

Same here... i hate wearing glasses, so i've had 15 years or so of practice wearing contact lenses... There's always the chance that they'll get dried out enough to get stuck during a scene, since i tend to keep my eyes closed, but i usually just leave them in and deal with it afterwards. i've never had one pop out. And, since they're two-week disposables that i tend to wear for a month at a time, if i lost one i'd just replace it

Very good point!

windchymes -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 9:13:15 AM)

I've worn "hard" contacts from back in the day when they were HARD but later became "gas-permeable", which are still hard, but don't feel like it when they're in your eye.

I never take them out except to go to bed at night.  I wouldn't dream of taking them out just to play.  Getting a hard swat on the butt isn't going to make them come flying out.  A wayward blink can, but you get good at finding them over the years.  And a wayward blink can happen anywhere.  Slapping my face is a big hard limit, no no no, lol, but not because I wear contacts.  In the 39 years that I've worn them, I've maybe lost 3 or 4 that were truly "lost" and had to be replaced.

I've never worn soft contacts, but I'm told they don't pop out unexpectedly at all, or almost not at all.

GreedyTop -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 9:24:36 AM)

if they get dry, they can be blinked out... or (as has happened to me during allergy season) rubbed too hard and scrunch up, then fall out.

I'm a non-practicing subish-type person with very little experience and I wear glasses. And like Thelma of Scooby Doo fame, I can't see anything without my glasses. But I'm wondering...

When you play, do you remove your glasses? Do you work your inability to see into your activities? What about contacts? I could imagine a good swat on the swat-receiving end could send a pair of hard contacts flying.

I'm thinking of a scenario where you don't have your hands availble to keep your specs on your nose.

I'm like Mr. Magoo without my specs.  I wear glasses, but I also wear contacts.  Whenever I play, the glasses come off for no reason other than to prevent them from getting damaged.  I don't incorporate my nearsightedness into play...that's what hoods are for. [:D] I have played with my contacts on and have had no problems with them flying off.  I've played sports with them on with no problem.  The only time I don't wear my specs or contacts while playing is when I'll be wearing one of my latex hoods.

Alpha takes my glasses off most of the time, and if he leaves them on it means he wants to cum on them. He likes how I try and focus on things he's doing but how miserably I fail at it. I hate wearing them for kissing and intimacy, even though I have to wear them to function in the real world.

peppermint -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 2:30:24 PM)

I take my glasses off to wash my face and hair...and no other time.  I play with my glasses on;  i sleep with them on.

azropedntied -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 3:04:12 PM)

Its one advantage about being near sighted and needing glasses , when  engaged in bdsm , they are removed  and the background is just a blur allowing me intensive focus on what is right in front of me . Adding the same comment as others they are too much money to get  broken .

AquaticSub -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 3:17:30 PM)

I remove them. Since I can't see much or drive without them, I'm not willing risk them being flicked off and have something happen to them. Before someone tells me how unlikely that is, I also remove all jewelry except rings because I've have an earring (small stud!) pulled off accidently by toys.

I'm another one that can't see squat if my glasses are off. In fact it's why I stopped swimming, the total fear of not seeing where I am.Anyway yes, it puts me a leap closer to sub space knowing that I'm essentially blindfolded once they are off. For me it is a measure of trust towards him and not seeing details lets me concentrate solely on letting myself react.I don't look at his face to gauge how he is looking at me and I think it makes my reactions a lot more natural. I cannot see his body language so there is nothing for me to play off except sensation.

flower2007 -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/19/2008 8:05:21 PM)

Something I've always wondered about.  I don't wear glasses, except from the bathroom to the bed at night, otherwise it's RGP contacts.  I'm pretty blind without them, and they're pretty practical for most things, but I think RGP contacts + blindfold = painful.  Falling asleep in them is just unhealthy.  Plus, if anything happens I lose one, we're talking a few weeks lead time for another one to be manufactured.  Maybe that's a situation where I'd actually go back to soft contacts.

Dnomyar -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/21/2008 6:49:26 AM)

I make my subs wear saftey glasses and steel toes shoes. Better safe that sorry.

christine1 -> RE: Subs with Specs: Take em off? (4/21/2008 6:54:45 AM)

snort, safety be damned!  now i might have to make a new hard limit for myself....i just got out of a job where i had to use safety glasses and steel toed boots....i dont' ever want to see a pair of those things again.
