ONe that got me when I was a kid was called (I think) Dont be afraid of the dark... little creatures that lived in the ducts of an old house, would come out at night.  I don't recall details all that well (I think I was 7 at the time), but it seems to me that at the end, the lead character got dragged into the ducts by these creatures and next you heard her say something like "I'm here with you grandpa"
(ok keep in mind, this was almost 40 yrs ago, so I could be misremembering)

OMG....that movie completely freaked out my childhood.  I still can't watch it to this day.

no kidding.,. I was well in to my teens before I could sleep without a light on.

The first time I watched Clockwork ORange, when it got to the scene where thry were beating the old guy in the tunnel, I had to stop the movie.  Took me a week to go back to it, that scene just SERIOUSLY disturbed me on more levels than I can say, even now.
oh ya,there were many scenes in that movie i do not care to remember-most intense movie ever-more wine!

I never saw Clockwork Orange....I was too afraid to!

I think that's Hellbound:Hellraiser II...one of My favourites...

When I first saw Hellraiser, I actually got quite turned on by the scene where the woman rises from the bed without any skin on.

hellraiser was amusing in a gory way.

It's not a silly movie, in my opinion, but I still can't watch the Exorcist a) in one sitting, b) after dark!  I have the director's cut with the additional scenes in it on both video and dvd, the shrink wrap is still on the DVD!  Her coming down the staircase just freaks me out everytime!!!! Just thinking about it gives me the chills!

And Jaws.....I wouldn't swim in Lake Ontario for the whole summer that I saw it because I just knew that shark was going to come down the St. Lawrence Seaway from the Atlantic Ocean, get into the lake and come snap me up!  How stupid was that?  However, when I was stationed at Ft Ord in Monterey, CA, I'd swim in the ocean at the drop of a hat!  I was actually about 1/4 mile down the beach when they brought in a surfer that had been attacked.....I just went swimming on a different beach!  Go figure!

I really liked The Village...

I can't think of any silly movies which scared me, but the original Halloween did give me nightmares. A movie which I was expecting to scare me but which just pissed me off

was The Village.

I know several people who didn't like it, and/or or thought it silly, but (much like Arlington Road), the film explains why the first part seemed so silly--and the explanation isn't silly at all.

I think The Village is Shylaman's smartest film, more than even his other really good film, Unbreakable.  The rest of his work bothers Me, some of it quite a bit more than a little.

For sheer scariness, few movies come close to Alien...the movie was filmed almost 30 years ago, and it looks like it was shot last Thursday.

k...nothing scared me...but i jumped...only on 2 scenes that i can remember.

1)when jason vorhees jumped out of the lake.
2)when carries hand came out of the grave.

horror movies are funny shit...they dont scare me...ive been thru so much shit in my life to not be scared of anything.

The original 'Planet of the Apes' gave me nightmares back in the early 70's and nightmares even today. The Serpent & the Rainbow, actually was supposed to be a more serious look into the religion of Voodoo and the creation of zombies. Written by a Harvard grad (think it was Harvard..Ivy Leaguer) who was said to be the first white man allowed to see the reality  of it all in Haiti. Very cool stuff or so I thought, until the buried alive scene. I cannot to this day watch the entire movie. Motel Hell where peoples head grew out of the ground in a garden. Like big ole cabbages. I have a thing about claustrophobia and breath control, mix the two and I'm a blubbering mess.

i'm with you, faery...now if the category was "movies that scared the shit out of other people that cracked me up", i'd have a very long list, starting with Alien...the scene at the end where the alien gets sucked out into space but Sigourney Weaver doesn't??

I don't remember the name of the movie or even who was in it, but there was a scene where some woman developed a zit on the side of her face, and it grew and grew until it was about the size of a baseball, then began to move and pulsate.  Then, one day, it broke open and hundreds of baby spiders came out of it and crawled all over her body.

The Omen.  scared the crap outta me!  and for the life of me, I can't remember the title of this one, but somewhere in it they say, "small, brown and low to the ground".
