I am not in any way saying that your stance on wild animals or hybrids as pets should be altered; it is one that I agree with.  Your post just brought back a good memory for me.

Status: offline 		humm pets should be the responsibility of who owned them first.. either submissive or Domainant. Of course I took on my Dominants pets as my own and treat them as such and we got a cat together, and the cat loves him more.. go figure.... We are pet people and always have been. I don't think I would give up a beloved pet for a Dominant. just me.. once a pet has been with you for awhile it becomes family.

Great, sweet post, Kyra.  Master and I have been open-minded and compromising in the pet arena as well.  He knows how much I love dogs and that I've never really been a cat person.  He has made it known that, once I moved here with Him, that I would be allowed to get a puppy.  However, the house we currently live in is rather small and we live in town and do not have a fenced-in yard.  The breeds of dogs I particularly like wouldn't necessarily be good to have considering these circumstances.  But, it is in our future once we move to somewhere bigger and more in the country.  I was so amazed and happy that He - who is not a dog person at all really - would allow me the happiness of having a dog.

By the same token, since I can't have a dog I settled for a kitten.  I'm adjusting and we both love our Kali to pieces.  He changed His thinking on dogs, I changed mine on cats and it's all good.  It meant so much to me that He would be willing to permit me a dog.  If I had already owned a beloved dog when we met and He made it a condition that I get rid of it, we wouldn't be together today.  In my world, partners (or even potential partners) who wish to see "pre-existing" children or cherished pets tossed aside just don't cut it.  It's not appropriate or fair in any way to even ask............luci

Status: offline 		I'm owned and operated by the cats. I would never be able to be involved with someone who doesn't understand that.. fortunately, Riff gets it (he shares space with 2 cats, himself). However, the girls are MY resonsibility, ultimately.  While neither Riff or I would balk at caring for each others furbabies, in the end I accepted the full responsibility for the girls care when they decided to keep me.
(mine already have collars, anyway....*grin*)

Status: offline 		As my girl is a stay-at-home mom, she is resposable for taking care of the house, including taking care of the 3 cats (only 2 of which are hers).  I pay vet bills as well as buying cat food and litter, and I spend time giving them attention, but that is as far as my resposabilities go.  As to collaring a pet.  My city has leash and collar laws.  The collar is only there to hold the rabbies tag, there is no symolism behind it.  I have no desire for slave cats.  Besides, our cats always find ways to get their collars off.

Hell, more often that not cat's own their people, not the other way around...

Status: offline 		My slave had to give up her pet. I feel; because she is owned 24/7 she has no right to own a pet and I do not like them.

Status: offline 		You would have to get the pet to agree to take orders from him, that issue of consent. With that said, when we met I had a dog who took to him immediately. She knew instinctively that he was not harming me during play. And she would allow him to open the door for her or fill her food bowl.

Status: offline 		i will and i have ended a relationship over preferences on pets - allergies, financial limitations, spacial limitations...things like that i can understand - but if your only reason is "i don't like them" or "i don't want them" and if a Dominant want me to give up my pets to be with them, and the possibility of ever having pets in the future, then they are asking me to deny an essential part of me...and no, it's not about the other person, it's about the fact that i won't compromise who i am, and the fact that i love animals, that i can't pass a puppy on the side of the road, that i will stop rush hour traffic to grab a tiny hissing ball of fur that is running across 6 lanes of traffic and take both home with me, better be something that you love about me...it is just part of who i am...

that being said, if i have a pet, i take care of the pet - it's no one else's responsibility, unless you want it to be...like the afore mentioned worst ever cat hater...lol...

chelle, who's waiting for the ratty babies to be weaned at the rattery, thats gonna be my next pet...anyone wanna see baby pictures?
