Lumus -> RE: Beauty shows up as... (4/22/2008 2:49:53 PM)

I'm afraid I didn't vote only because I'm a literal-minded bastard. However, to clarify: If the question is, "Can beauty be physical or mental?" I'd have to go with 'both'. If the question is, "Does beauty manifest more obviously as physical or mental?" I'd have to lean towards 'physical' - advertisement imagery is easy, recognizing mental attributes requires effort. Less effort required tends to be the bigger draw, like it or not. If the question is, "Should beauty be defined as physical or mental?" it becomes subjective, but my personal lean would be towards 'mental'. The mind translates the input of the senses, thus rendering the ultimate discernment on what is aesthetically pleasing, and what is not. That means even physical beauty cannot exist without the same mental appraisal one would put into discerning "mental" beauty. If the question is, "Were you always like this, or were you dropped on your head as a baby...?"...well, actually when I was very young my sister tipped the shopping cart over intentionally because I annoyed her. You be the judge. [My sis is a freakin' brat!]
