Status: offline 		My submissive and I wrote O/our own contract, mainly--since W/we don't live together--W/we'd each have some basic paramaters in writing.  The contract isn't there to insure loyalt, its there to list her various duties (she has certain ongoing daily and weekly tasks), and it lists her hard limits, stipulates the paramaters for punishment (punishable offenses, and the types of punishments she might receive), etc.  W/we even included the promise to re-visit the contract on a monthly basis, and revise it as necessary (which has turned out to be a very good thing for U/us).

But no, loyalty is never guaranteed--by a contract, or otherwise.

Loyalty (like so many other things in this lifestyle) must be earned...

Loyalty is not guaranteed, relationships do not grow on trees but two people work to ensure that they succeed.  Otherwise, what is the point?

The kind where they look you in your eyes and you can see into their soul and "know" it is right. Everyone is different. None of the people I know use "formal" contracts but they both have a great understanding of what is expected. Just My opinion.

Status: offline 		The contract does not gaurantee you anything. It is simply a technicality some dominants and submissives or slaves like, that spells things out for them. Since it isnt legally binding, it doesnt mean much to ayone other than the two involved. And like others have said, if you need a contract to think you will remain loyal, there are problems no paper and ink will fix

Status: offline 		On which addresses the things the DOMINANT has responsibility for and what they bring to the table in as much detail as the part that speaks to what the slave brings. One that addresses the amount of loyalty the Owner will give to the relationship and is followed as closely by the Owner as they expect the slave to follow their parts.

contracts generally are not a bad thing, but like safe words, I think people rely on them too much to do things they don't do.. its about the people using them really...

the act of discussing expectations is probably the most beneficial part of a contract...

If I need a contract to have that kind of clarity in the relationship, I need to go back to Domina school.

It makes it clearer and written for the participants, but there is nothing that makes it more binding. Someone can ignore an unofficial contract as easily as they can a verbal command. You cannot use a piece of paper to MAKE someone more loyal, more trustworthy or more bound.

None.  A contract can't do this.

It's the loyalty that makes a contract worth anything, not the other way around.

Most people I know that have a "contract" dont look at it that way but more of a basic set of rules and understandings. It may detail the hard limits.
