Fast Reply: I actually came out to my parents recently. My mom's response? "We weren't supposed to know already?" My dad's response? "Is this stuff hereditary?" Which led to an in depth discussion on genetic factors in pain response and how individuals process things like adrenalin and endorphins. I love my family. -Corinne

well personallly i don't worry about that.my mom can barely deal with opening emails and such so i know she doesn't even come to places like this,my dad just plays solitare,i no longer have siblings and the rest of my family is too uptight.

I made sure I was out to everyone in my family so I'm fine, however I did an interview once, and although I didn't use my name in the interview, enough people heard it on the radio (I taught some celebs how to flog), that it actually became office talk. About two weeks later someone realized that it had been me on the radio, my lunch friends all of a sudden became too busy and I was fired a few days later for going to an "unapproved website". I told them I had gone to a CLIENTS site to get their address, and that it was in no way innappropriate, so they just came out and said, they were no longer comfortable with me in the office. No big deal really, I had a job 3 days later, but Fuck DuPont.

I wouldn't think it was a big deal. If a family member were here, it would be extremely unlikely they'd react negatively. No one in my family would be at all surprised that I'd be here, some probably think I'm into more things than I am - I get some weird questions at family bbqs. I'd be surprised to find some of my family members here, but not others. Echoing what some others have said, it's nice to know that you're not the only one in your family with kinks. While I do know that about mine, most are very private about it.

She clearly been "out" to you, she's not likely to have a fit or spread your business around if she recognizesm most likely. I'm not seeing the problem, is there something going on there that you didn't mention that would make you wary of her? For myself, on the other questions: Some of my family and all of my friends know, the family that doesn't know... well, if they found out I wouldn't really care. With my relatives everyone falls into one of two categories: 1) I like them and they like me for who they know I am (that being someone this would maybe be a surprise to but wouldn't be a total shock at all) and 2) I can't stand them and we mutually avoid one another, so if they found out no matter what their opinion on it's null to me... they don't count as people whose opinions matter. At most, with those that I speak to, it would be a little awkward if one of them wanted to talk to me about it but was embarrassed by the subject. If they brought it up I'd just be honest with them while maintaining whatever boundaries with them I felt was appropriate. It wouldn't be a big deal at all...

In my hometown, my brother is active in the scene. It is not a huge city, it is not a big scene. essentially, there is one munch, and they hold one party a month. I run into him at that party sometimes. He does not seem to mind at all. To be honest, while i do not mind knowing that my brother is in the lifestyle, and do not mind seeing him dressed (He is TV), i am a bit distressed about seeing him lingerie and cuffs. Kind of like, I don't mind knowing that my parents must have had sex, but i'd rather be spared the details. However, my family does know of my lifestyle, i just spare them the details. The same would go for a munch. i wouldn't mind seeing my brother at a munch, but it would make me less likely to participate in the roundtable, if that was the kind of munch it was. On CM, there is one young sub male whos profile i happen across occasionally, who looks a LOT like my oldest son. I can't be sure how much like my son he looks, since he is in drag in the pic - but this is my son who is trannie that i am talking about. The profile identifies him as being about the right age, but as being in Europe. No, I am not going to write and say, 'are you really in <hometown> instead of London?' My oldest definitely knows about this site, i am on it all the time and he has walked in on me. A) They have as mujch explaining to do as I would at that point B) If they want to actively try and find out about me, that's their choice and they deal with the consequences C) I really wouldn't care. It would fit right in with everything else they know about me. I might never have come directly out to everyone in my family and used the words bdsm or master slave, but I certainly haven't hid the fact that I'm into alternative stuff from them.
