Hello, This girl's Master has made mention of her keeping a journal, that He would have access to yet would be otherwise private. Does anyone have any ideas, which might be best and why?
Any input will be appriciated greatly.

My-Journal.com has the option of private or public journaling. Easy pre-set formats take moments to set up.

Livejournal is very easy to use and to set so only those you want to see it can do so.

And to answer the other respondants question about why not email, a journal is far easier to keep them all accessable and read back when looking to refer to something and/or to examine how far someone has come, how their attitudes and thoughts have changed over time.

What is the purpose of it?  Is the purpose strictly for your growth and change as a slave? Is the purpose to get a clue into what is going on in your life? Is this a record of where you have been and what you have done on a daily basis?  Are you the type of person that would sabatoge yourself in your best efforts because you know that someone else is reading it?

I am the type of person that writes in a journal raw emotion because I can tire myself out and cut through my own crap.  I can go back and use that to either develop a character for a story or to see where I have been. I also know that it is an intensely private ritual and if I think someone is going to be reading it behind me I may lose what I went for and be deceptive while trying to do the right thing.  I also use it to keep track of situations that I encounter at work and I blow off steam and/or don't want to forget those that were involved.

I had been asked to keep a journal to know what was going on in my life and not necessarily BDSM. I found that I could easily deceive myself by either focusing too much in one area and possibly neglecting another part I should address because I could.

I had 3 alternatives, two were my idea. I could keep a written journal that would be hidden and he could always come and have access to it but it would remain hidden. I could then try to not be self deceptive/sabatoge, by trying to deceive myself into thinking that I was writing for myself only and  yet accomplish the goal. The second, was to type on my computer and if he wanted to he could always open up my 20 page document and read what he wanted. I used the computer because I type faster and I will kick out what is on my mind immediately.  I could send them on command through email. It seemed the perfect solution.  I was to make three entries a week, his rule.

I felt that I encountered some problems.  I feel this way because it was never sent. It was never asked for. I recently deleted everything. Therefore, I never received feedback. I have nothing to compare it to. It's possible they weren't even problems. The first problem I felt was that I had no boundaries. No limitations on what I was writing, no goal and no vizual/mental/spiritual/emotional purpose. I may have needed a more clear cut direction because I have several roles and each relationship has its......thang. Secondly, because it had never been asked for it felt like busy work. Things you give those that need it.  It has no real relevence and no goal and no vizual purpose. Maybe that was the point. Maybe it was a busy-work-do-it-cause-I-said thing. I don't know.

Really? Had no problem reading my pets past emails to me - they're all in date order and searchable in my mail client. Plus, they're private, stored on my harddrive with no chance that the information can be wiped/accessed without me personally being at fault.

Guess I prefer the control!

I honestly don't see the point of using a public blogging system (LJ, Blogspot, whatever) for an audience of one. If you were going to maintain some public presence then sure, I'd recommend it. For me though, its entirely a level of unneccesary complexity.

If you are insistant on using an external website for hosting your Blog of One I'd recommend Blogspot (http://www.blogger.com/) as it seems to have less downtime than LiveJournal in my experience (I use both for one purpose or another) and uses Google Accounts (which are useful for other stuff too).

I started an online journal using MSN groups 4 years go. I choose to put it there because it allows me to not only keep a written journal but I can also open photo albums within that journal. I like that I can look back and see how I have changed and grown.

I use livejournal.  I've never experienced any issues with downtime.  You can also set your privacy on it.
I'd much prefer using a journal for its purpose and not email for a journal.  For me using email for a journal would be complex.  I like having a place that is not email to share my thoughts, feelings, ramblings, etc  I also like being able to refer to what I've said in the past without having to sift through tons of emails.  Made even more complex because I email from work and home and the journal is static (everything in one place)

Fox uses LifeJournal as well. I technically have one myself, but I am terrible at actually journaling.
We have had no problems, it is set so friends can see it, and there has been no buzz about content even though he does document the majority of his training. He may have even set it to public now, but you can choose between public, friends only and private.

I've always admired those with the self-discipline to keep a journal.  I couldn't if my life depended on it! hell, in college, I lost out on a perfect grade in my honors english class because I couldn't do it..LOL

I was required to keep a daily journal during one relationship.  I enjoyed it a lot, but stopped when that relationship ended.  I used blogger.   I have a livejournal account too, but have never used it.

I was going to keep a journal once but then I thought fuck that would be a bit depressing if say in five years my life was shit and I looked back and my life was just as shit five years ago.

Day 1 20:30: Watches Columbo
Day 2: 19:31 Watches Eastenders, jack has an affair with Roxi, no sex scene as usual.

I know what you are thinking I may as well copy the TV Guide into my journal.

Also I’m not a slave so I guess the above you should not have read and I should have said this at the start of the thing I wrote before now rather than a point in time where by which telling you not to read the aforementioned thing I have just outlined is impossible.

Beer anyone?

I looked at livejournal but it seemed odd to be writing to myself while worrying about whether he would read it or not. It was easier to write to him than to myself.

The purpose is to have you be able to talk out your feelings and concerns at length which isn't always doable in a LDR, or even in a live in relationship as lives come with time constraints. The only way it can work is if you don't get punished for your true feelings. Say you write how you feel some recent assignment was inane and just busy work and you think lesser of him for doing that, you don't want him to get upset and punish you. Because if he does that, then from that time on you will never write honestly again. Like a boss who says his door is always open, it had better be, otherwise everyone loses respect for him.

I use livejournal as well, have my account set to public, but I set up adult content warnings. Since I'm not in a ldr, it doesn't have quite the same function, but Alpha does like to read it occasionally. It's mostly for me, to be honest. I just want to echo things said here about punishment resulting from anything he reads, it shouldn't happen. Using it as a chance to get inside your head is a good idea though. Anything that causes him concern should be discussed.

I have always found writing to be therapeutic...I have issues with not being able to say things out loud that need to be said, hence a journal always seemed the perfect solution...do I sometimes censor myself?  Yes...unfortunately that is just the way most humans are...however, I also have a journal in which I hand-write the things I cannot bear to put on a public forum, then take it with me when I go to visit Master...this way, it's a win-win situation

I use a Word doc. for my journals and I email them to my Sir for reading. The document is great because he can add comments or ask questions that I can then reply to and send back. It has been a helpful tool with our communication.

I have found that a pen and paper works best for me. A real diary, can be found at any store, Hallmark is were I found my current one. I've kept a journal now for about 2 yrs.
It will start to provide you a true look into yourself, and the frankness that can be put onto paper, without being judged by peers can be very therapueutic, and only later to re-visit those words that came from within, pondering if you still feel the same way as you did then, then you will start to see changes within.

*quick reply*

i started a journal within the first couple days i started to learn about BDSM. This was of my own choice and its helpped me a great deal. Also, its pretty cool to see how i've grown and how my thoughts have changed on things. i dont write in it everyday only when i feel the need.  Sir has read it before, but He asked and told me He would understand if i didnt want to share, which of course i did what to share to show Him how much i had grown before He came into my life.   i use a normal notebook. Pen and paper  are the best imo.

I truly have to refute Muse.  I spent a good hour trying to navigate around the set up and get something going.  I finally found the button to DELETE.

I googled again and found www.thoughts.com

Thank you all gods there is something THAT simple ~ easy to set up and easy to navigate..even a moron deficient in PC skills could get it set up.

And the easy options....
who can view and it
even has adult content options

I gave up on blogspot after 3 years of posting on both my private journals.  Why?  the appearance.  Even if no one sees it but me and anyone whom I choose...  I was satisfied with the appearance.

I most certainly concur....but when your PC crashes to the grave yard..lost.  Or when his does... lost to PC graveyard.

He has to email those he sent all 5 manuscripts to...request them to be sent back...cause LOST when his PC up and burned in front of him.

The word journal scares many......  wikipedia it and see what it really is.. to the common man...

OP.... a place to keep your thoughts for an eternity as you learn and grow....  a way to introspect and evaluate.

Good luck
