All right, I realize I am hijacking my own thread here :), but just had to respond to this post.  Personally, if I am out with a Dom, I had gotten the impression that, yes, he would generally pay.  I believe, even in this day and age, a woman wants to be taken care of, cherished, etc.  Part of that is the guy paying for the date.

Don't get me wrong...there are exceptions, and I have paid my way lots of times, when it was appropriate.  But maybe your girl was just trying to get you to do what she thought was the "right" thing.

If a guy asks a girl out, unless he qualifies it somehow, like go out Dutch (both pay their own way, etc),  then its pretty much automatically presumed that the guy will pay for everything....

I know when we first went out, she didn't pay for anything.  Later I found out she was very much interested in being spoiled, etc, and wanted a ring bought for her when she was married for the second time and what not, and also that she wasn't financially responsible as an adult, basically I had good reasons to not want to be with her....She's not *my girl*, because we broke up......

Sorry, I didn't want to derail your thread either Songbird, I was just talking about starting and ending relationships.....maybe if you want to talk further about this you can email me privately ::wink::  (laughs to self)

Maybe she's using her admirers list as a shit list.

Worse than that is a sub who does not answer your e-mail, but adds you to her admirers list.  It leaves me confused.  I guess anythig is better than being ignored.

Hey that is what I thought the " favorites" list was for!

I never like to presume anything, so hence, when someone appears to be an admirer..I do not contact..as I know often times there are other reasons for its appearance other than interest in me or a possible relationship.I can be a bit of a block head, unless someone spells it out for me..subtleness is often wasted on me, unless it's my own!!....:0)..Tempting

I'm pretty gullable myself, I sometimes take people literally for what they say, when its obvious they are speaking figuratively.

If someone asks you out, it seems proper forum for them to pay.  I guess I'm still waiting for a girl to ask me out so she can pay!! lol

lighthearted -> RE: Admirers...Waiting for the sub to make the first move? (4/27/2008 8:54:41 PM)

I really don't pay attention to the admirers.  occasionally I'll contact someone who's perved me, I've made some great friends that way, but that is the extent of it.  I keep my interactions on CM limited, only because it could be a real time suck if I let it.

I am not sure as to how who pays or does not pay has to do with the OP?..You seem to be hung up on this particular issue of who pays for whatever..maybe you should start your own thread upon this..Tempting

HerLord -> RE: Admirers...Waiting for the sub to make the first move? (4/28/2008 8:55:05 PM)

Uhhh... admirers list?... That would be some thing that says I am admired? I already know I am... So... what is the point of such a list?

curiouspet55 -> RE: Admirers...Waiting for the sub to make the first move? (4/28/2008 8:56:02 PM)

If someone has added me and I find their profile fascinating, sometimes I'll add them back and see if they send a message, or I'll just send one...same thing with 'who's viewed my profile' - if I view theirs and find it interesting, I'll add them to my list to see if they will message me. I despise initiating contact, so usually I'll just add someone and see if they will, if not in a few weeks I'll reevaluate and either send a message or delete them from my list...works well, at least so far :).

And I must say, I also am way too curious not to check. Yet another great way to procrastinate!

It has been my experience, under this pseudonym as well as others, that some Doms simply tag someone as a favorite, sit back, and wait to see if li'l fishie takes the bait.  I find it fascinating that many would supposedly like a profile enough to be on an "admirers" list, yet never even send a "Howdy!"  Anyone else have thoughts, concerns, grins to share on this?

S

sOngbird, I too have experienced the same situation as you described in your post.  I don't know what to think of it, I have a few admirers that I speak to on a regular basis, and that's all good.  I have a wallpaper full of friends, some that I have invited and others that have invited me.  I do my best to keep in touch with them, even if it's just something short to say hi, or how are you doing?  But I hear nothing from the majority of them..

I also think what contributes to this is that it is very easy to sit in the privacy and comfort of your own home, on a computer screen, see a pic or a profile of somthing that you like and respond to it by an invitation as a friend, or marked as an admirer.  I'm relatively new to this site, so my experience is limited, but I can also tell you that when I put up my primary pic I was naked, although you couldn't see anything explicit.  I think that drew a lot of attention which I was seeking at the time in hopes of meeting what I was looking for.   I have since changed my primary pic to a face shot instead of being naked.  But I put the naked one inside with the rest of my photos, just to give a sample of what is to come.  :-)

So I guess I really did not answer your question, but can relate because the same thing is happening to me.  My lesson that I learned, be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it..... in abundance..but not the way you anticipated.....................DV8

From my own experience I have to point out that sometimes interesting people can also be quite intimidating. The first impression might be "Wow! I like what I've seen so far" and on the favorite list he/she goes. By the time someone might feel ready to send a greeting the nihilistic inner daemon has had more than enough time to sabotage any such attempt.

Other than that, there is of course the occasional idiot, but most true idiots don't waste their time no procrastination when they could send a "Bitch, I R Ur Dom! Pls submit!"

The begging for submission line... That kills me.

LilMissHaven -> RE: Admirers...Waiting for the sub to make the first move? (4/29/2008 4:12:15 AM)

I'm a blog whore so I'm guilty of adding people I don't contact or know to my favorites list because I generally like what they have to say or have found useful information in their blog.

Just because I like someone's thoughts doesn't necessarily mean I am attracted.

Dnomyar -> RE: Admirers...Waiting for the sub to make the first move? (4/29/2008 4:33:48 AM)

Hey Old Bastard you may be on to something. Mabey I can get CM to put on a "I want to fuck you Donmyar" list. Think of all the time it would save me and the posters. Listen ladies. Until CM puts one like that up just write me and tell me yourself. For all the rest of you the admires list will do.

UncleNasty -> RE: Admirers...Waiting for the sub to make the first move? (4/29/2008 12:39:02 PM)

The temptaion you've dangled in front of me to add you to my list of those I admire is almost overwhelming. Remember what Truman Capote said about temptation? The best way to deal with temptaion is to give in to it.
