ORIGINAL: slaveboyforyou Domiguy; two of the cops that were involved were black, one was middle eastern, one was biracial (hispanic/Hatian), and one was white. I don't think race had anything to do with this. If you read about the incident, Sean Bell and his buddies left a strip club after reportedly threatening to get a gun. Of course his pals dispute this, but of course they would. Bell and his buddies had all been arrested previously on firearms possession charges, and Bell had been arrested twice for dealing drugs. These guys were not angels, and I believe that they probably were running their mouths as they left the club. I believe they said "Yo, get my gun." which was what the undercover officer heard them say. The undercover officer ordered Bell to stop, but he gunned his car instead and crashed into a police van. Well a car is a deadly weapon, and the police are justified in protecting themselves. BAC tests showed that Bell was beyond the legal limit. Of course, Sharpton has witnesses that dispute all of this. But Sharpton made cash payments to all of these people. Sharpton is a professional race baiter. He makes a living off of the race issue, so it's in his best interest to find racism when there often is none. Yeah, blacks are more often than not the people you hear about in these types of incidents. But that's because blacks tend to live in high crime areas. In the end, this is a tragedy. But Bell and his buddies are ultimately the cause of it. When you run your mouth and make threats about guns, you are asking for trouble. Well trouble found them that night. "Witnesses said that about 4 a.m., closing time, as Bell and his friends left the club, an argument broke out. Believing that one of Bell's friends, Joseph Guzman, was going to get a gun from Bell's car, one of the undercover detectives followed the men and called for backup. What happened next was at the heart of the trial, prosecuted by the assistant district attorney in Queens. Bell, Guzman and Trent Benefield got into the car, with Bell at the wheel. The detectives drew their weapons, said Guzman and Benefield, who testified that they never heard the plainclothes detectives identify themselves as police. Bell was in a panic to get away from the armed men, his friends testified. But the detectives thought Bell was trying to run down one of them, believed that their lives were in danger and started shooting, according to their lawyers. A total of 50 bullets were fired by five NYPD officers. Only three were charged with crimes. No gun was found near Bell or his friends." hmmmmm... http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/04/25/national/main4044259.shtml "As the club closed around 4 a.m., Sanchez and Isnora claimed they overheard Bell and his friends first flirt with women, then taunt a stranger who responded by putting his right hand in his pocket as if he had a gun. Guzman, they testified, said, "Yo, go get my gun" - something Bell's friends denied. Isnora said he decided to arm himself, call for backup - "It's getting hot," he told his supervisor - and tail Bell, Guzman and Benefield as they went around the corner and got into Bell's car. He claimed that after warning the men to halt, Bell pulled away, bumped him and rammed an unmarked police van that converged on the scene with Oliver at the wheel. The detective also alleged that Guzman made a sudden move as if he were reaching for a gun. Guzman said Isnora "appeared out of nowhere" with a gun drawn and shot him in the shoulder - the first of 16 shots to enter his body. "That's all there was - gunfire," he said. "There wasn't nothing else." With tires screeching, glass breaking and bullets flying, the officers claimed that they believed they were the ones under fire. Oliver responded by emptying his semiautomatic pistol, reloading, and emptying it again, as the supervisor sought cover. The truth emerged when the smoke cleared: There was no weapon inside Bell's blood-splattered car." NYC is fortunate that the officers are not white in this case. I assure you that in many a redneck bar across this wonderful country that if the mention of retrieving one's firearm after a heated disagreement led to cops filling their white ass with lead we would have dead white dudes strewn out across this country. There is something wrong with this scenario...I assure you that "millions" of dollars are going to be paid out. The van "converged" on the car...No weapons were ever seen. There is something extremely problematic when the police run into blacks...Is it warranted? ...I have no idea... possibly so. Either way it sucks. There is a pattern and it cannot be ignored. If New York is anything like Chicago the police feel that they are above the law. "To Serve and Protect" only their own interests. Sharpton is little different than most of the "public" white revs that parade around this nation...they all have their own self serving agenda. They all pander towards their constituents and make inflamatory remarks to those that they perceive as being the reasons for their problems...Robertson, Falwell, Sharpton, Jackson....They are all cut from the same cloth none of it from that of a holy man....Many of their actions would lead one to believe that they have been unable to grasp the teachings of Christ.
