defiantbadgirl -> RE: The checks go out today...... (4/28/2008 8:03:30 PM)

My rebate check is only $300. Not too much can be done with that anyway.

GreedyTop -> RE: The checks go out today...... (4/28/2008 8:12:50 PM)

$300.00 will get my storage unit paid up, my electric bill caught up, and my car insurance caught up

moving expenses, new furniture...IKEA, look out!

I never understood my friends' obsession with IKEA until I went to one...

RuheMaus -> RE: The checks go out today...... (4/28/2008 8:58:57 PM)

Good point, Cali! :)  Why should he spend 90% of the cheque on 5 gallons of gas for you? ;)

Ahhh, I've converted another one.  At least this one came along willingly.  After all, Azropedntied is called that for a reason.

Actually, the direct deposits should be completed by May 2, according to an article I read on MSN's money section.  The repayment table they have on the IRS's website is the same one they had on it a month ago...I know this because I printed it out for folks at work who were wondering when they'd see their $$.  I'll just wait and see when it gets deposited....I'm in the last bunch of ssn's anyway.

Yeah, IKEA is so cooool!  They put one up in Tempe, I didn't go near the place for at least a couple of months after it opened.  When I lived in the Chicago area, there was one in Schaumburg......it was nothing to go by on any day and see TOUR BUSES in thrie parking lot from all over the place....including WI!  Never dared to go to that one!

Termyn8or -> RE: The checks go out today...... (4/29/2008 4:19:48 AM)

Am I the only one ? Three hundred bucks would barely wipe my ass.

You can't buy a car with it, nor a decent piece of furniture. Paying down a mortgage ? When was the last time you saw a monthly payment of $300 or less, you don't even get a month ahead really. Actually if your payment really is $300 you do, but come on, nobody gets off that cheap these days.

Buy a car ? Hell that amount won't pay for most car repairs anymore. For that matter you most likely can't even get your bigscreen TV out of the shop for that much.

Notice the amount is not enough to do any good. With their form of macro math they figure if ten million people get 300 each, that's three billion in circulation.

What I say is that we should all immediately convert the money to euros, and figuratively kick them in the balls for their stupidity. Even with 100 million getting the checks, that is not even a drop in the bucket.

Notice that amount again and I challenge you to buy something made in the US. Betcha can't do it unless you stock up the deepfreeze, oh wait, we now import more than half of our food. And take a look at the tag on the deepfreeze, where was it made ?

Even if they gave people ten grand each, they would be hard pressed to buy an American car. The point is, as long as we import damnear everything this is more of a stimulus package for China, Korea, Taiwan etc., not the US.

So just blow it. Remember they want that money back next year, but that is forever from now. You might as well have a good time now.

That being said though, something occurred to me that would be good to do with the money, you can buy American and it is a very important item. Buy a gun. Better to get it on the black market these days. You won't save any money but there is no paper trail. And they will come one day for the guns.

SBFY can put it towards his Mateba and I will go to the bar and look for a fat Man with glasses. I can find them, my Dad used to BE the fat Man with glasses.

Think of the ramifications if everybody used those checks to buy guns. Enough of them buying legally might just send a message might it not ? That singularly is the very best thing we could ever do with that money, and yes, many legally. Let them see gun sales soar when those checks come out, what do you think they will conclude from that ?

LaTigresse -> RE: The checks go out today...... (4/29/2008 4:34:50 AM)

No kidding. $ 300.00 (if I was keeping it ) would give each of the three vehicles a full tank of gas and pay for one trip to the grocery store for a few weeks..... woohoo. I am beside myself with my good fortune.

Now if they wanted to add another zero in front of the decimal point......oh wait......they would still get it all back. Okay, add two zeros in front of the decimal point and we've got something to get me mildly excited for a day or two. I would pay off the IRS and buy the addition 50 acres I covet. If there was anything left over, a small, used, tractor.

LilMissHaven -> RE: The checks go out today...... (4/29/2008 4:37:21 AM)

Well my refund sat safely in my savings account for about 12 hours as I got my check yesterday but then the dumb ass in me had to go and sit on my glasses so you can guess where its going now *sighs*
