cyberdude611 -> Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/28/2008 6:11:34 PM)

Iranian Prosecutor General Ghorban Ali Dori Najafabadi said Barbie dolls and other western toys are dangerous to the Islamic culture, society, and future generations and their importation needs to be stopped.

Najafabadi said the increasing visibility of Western dolls has alarmed authorities and they are considering intervening.
"The displays of personalities such as Barbie, Batman, Spiderman and Harry Potter ... as well as the irregular importation of unsanctioned computer games and movies are all warning bells to the officials in the cultural arena," his letter said.
Najafabadi said Iran is the world's third biggest importer of toys and warned that smuggled imports pose a threat to the "identity" of the new generation.
"Undoubtedly, the personality and identity of the new generation and our children, as a result of unrestricted importation of toys, has been put at risk and caused irreparable damages," he said

Harry Potter is into witchcraft.
Batman and Spiderman pose a threat to an authoritarian figures.

Did you know they banned "The Matrix" in Egypt?

Mattel needs to design a "Birka Barbie" doll.

Yeah having those toys will really make things worse in their country than they already are (insert sarcasm here). I agree they need a Jihad Jane doll dressed in a burka with a bomb strapped to her belly so she looks preggers.[sm=anger.gif]Then when she blows up she will look just like this smiley...

What's wrong with rejecting another crap useless toy? Barbie sucks. Nobody needs her: I hope people aren't criticising Iran for showing good taste. That's what American cultural imperialism is: Barbie? Perhaps it's time to rethink it. She is terribly, terribly last millenium.

"Moooommmmy, big bad nasty Iran doesn't want our Barbies, soooo not fair, they don't want their little girls to play with a cuntless big titted plastic airhead, what's wrong with 'em waaaaaaa!".

For fuck's sake. Get a grip.

bipolarber -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:21:52 AM)

You can just take a gray athletic sock, cut a thin slit in the toe for her eyes, and slip it over Barbie and viola! Barbie Burka! Your little kids can have endless fun mistreating her, and will learn to treat women as non-entities in society! Burka Barbie comes complete with detachable hands, so that she can be properly punished if she is caught being looked at by another male.

Coming soon: Al Queda Ken! Complete with suicide bombing pack, and wild staring eyes!

LilMissHaven -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:25:45 AM)

Screw Barbie I want a TONKA toy!!

kittinSol -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:32:07 AM)

I would like to hear you say that to the Iranian women I know. You just insulted them, and their country. They would laugh at you, if they weren't so polite.

I am not Iranian, so I won't split hair: you are tragically misinformed and ignorant. But I suppose it's easier to swallow the mass of lies you are told on an everyday basis rather than think for yourself and seek accurate and honest information.

tsatske -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:32:12 AM)

Racist Garbage! what do you think people think of your lifestyle choices, bipolarber? do you think that the fundies in our country think that how you treat women, or how you allow yourself to be treated, in a relationship, is okay?
as KittenSol said it SO WELL, i didn't want my daughter having Barbie, either. And I raised a daughter who, when she was 13 I brought home a cosmo because i had gotten stuck waiting at the drugstore and that was what was on their waiting area table, and i got involved in an article so i grabbed a copy and bought it so i could finish it. My daughter grabbed the magazine from me and flipped through it in disgust, saying, 'Mom, real women do not look like this!'
People have a right to raise their children as they see fit. Not allowing them to have a certain toy does not constitute the kind of danger to a child that is going to cause me to think i have a right to an opinion, on someone elses child rearing practices.
And neither, btw, is wearing a burka or having a little girl cover her head. my daughter covered her head when she went to mass. When she was little, her favorite thing about Mass were those little lace doilies on a barrette. I'm wearing a sari to our next BDSM event. what does that make me?

kittinSol -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:37:25 AM)

Good post, tsatske - do people seriously equate Barbie with freedom? She's the incarnation of all that's wrong about Western femininity.

Barbie as a symbol of liberty. On aura tout vu. [8|]

MichiganHeadmast -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:39:44 AM)

Elitist retards acting like elitist retards.

Here and there.

kittinSol -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:43:03 AM)

Oh yes... 'elitist' is the new liberal, isn't it? I'm glad to see you're following the party line.

Good boy [8|] .

pahunkboy -> RE: Iran doesnt want Barbie dolls in their country (4/29/2008 5:46:55 AM)

Barby is a decadent symbol of consumerism gone awry.
