EXODUS1 here.

Was just watching a program,
where 2 people had died and come back to life, and how it had changed thier life forever!

Here are some stories about people
who have had experiences like that.

quote:

I haven't had the real, near death experience, either, but, once, when I was a teenager. I thought I was pregnant! I was sitting on the bed, contemplating ending myself. All of a sudden, I had this FLASH in my head! It was just like they discribe, having my whole life flash in front of my eyes. I mean from beginning to end and very fast!

It made me see how much I loved everyone, but, even better, how everyone loved me and would be very devasted if I did what I was thinking.

It was so very real though! I love when the mind can see what the eyes can't.   Kira

quote:

Well I fell down some steps 10yrs ago and died. They sent me to the u of Iowa hospital.I had no pulse or blood pressure for 45min they told my Ex that I was gone He begged them to keep trying! I saw my grandmother who had been gone 15 yrs,she told me I had to go back it wasnt my time yet.I wanted to stay so bad I was upset. It felt like there was only Love,it was all that mattered. She looked to be in her 30s.It felt like the best drug you could ever do. its hard to put into words. Anyway they shocked me 3 times 2 shots in the heart and I finally woke up.I was very sad it was so wonderful over there.I used to worry about going to the wrong church, now I believe organised religon isnt important what matters is how you treat people and whats in your heart.I no longer sweat the small stuff, and I look forward into going back. That part seems to bother some people.  Rose.

quote:

Maybe it is just me, but I have a real problem in believing in the whole, "when your dead your dead, this is it". How can any rational person believe that this is all there is. That would be a pretty selfish, depressed thought if you ask me. Look how involved everything is. Look at the details of life and how long the universe has been here. Are you trying to tell me that in the billions and billions of years that the universe has been here that we only get 100 years if we are lucky? No way. Also, look at the differences of life. What about the children who are born with major complications and they die within a year. That does not seem fair to them that they had such an awful life and only got a year. Just becuase you have an account where you had an NDE and you didn't see the tunnel or something else does not mean that when your are dead you are dead. I am pretty sure the creator of all of this has more is store for us and I am also pretty sure that you can not rule out that there are many possibilities once your die. Some see the light, some see the dark, some stay here. Ultimately it is probably our own free will that decides what/where we go at death.

Also, if you believe that this is it, then why not stop working, commit as many crimes as you like even kill if you have to, get a lot of money and try to live the best life that you can. What is to stop you from trying to better your own life if this is the only one you get and you don't have to worry about any consequences?

Just my three cents.  AJ.

"I've lied in a hospital bed minutes from being dead! When I was approched by someone. It was a horrific face and it told me the road I was going down was leading me to a Spiritual death!"

This among the dreams i've had, has told me that there is more to us then just dying."

A person once asked me why I changed my life? I told him if I'm wrong in what I believe in, then I loose nothing.

But the reward is just to much not to want it.

When people say they had a near death experience, don't they mean they died and came back to life, a la Lazarus?

Isn't that a little like having a near pregnancy experience?

Seems to me you are dead or your aren't dead, being nearly dead isn't being dead at all.

I don't know if I buy into this whole thing...

One theory I have is that the bright light so many claim to see at the point of death is neurons rapidly firing.  Another theory I  have is that the sudden flash of memories is a left over oxygen reserve in the brain.

Cause I don't remember any of this...what I do remember is thinking "O fuck this is gonna hurt" then waking up in the hospital days later wishing someone would just shoot me and put me out of my misery.

I do not see the value of changing ones life just because of a near death experience or severe accident.
Why does it take such and event for people to see that life is for living and loving?  I question anyones motive on such a 'change' for such a reason.

Hiyas dark,
I don't really know why it takes such an event but I do know that sometimes that is exactly what it takes. Maybe it's because we get into a familiar routine and take for granted that there will be a tomorrow...I don't know. I have never had a near death experience....such as seeing a bright light and all....but I have knocked on death's door a couple of times in my life. I can't say it motivated me consciously to make changes....but I can say that change was an inevitable consequence of the events. I don't know...it's like when you come that close...you come out of it with a clarity that was inescapable to you before it. Priorities are different and things that seemed important no longer are....and things that didn't seem important at all can become amazing moments. You understand the fragility of it all in a way that you just never saw before and you have a deeper appreciation for the little stuff. Suddenly having a Prada bag takes a back seat to a beautiful sunrise or the smile of a child. Don't know if that makes sense...

It's not always near death that can trigger such a change either. Sometimes it can be a positive thing too, like the birth of a child.

Although i was brought up Catholic, i do NOT doubt these folks indeed witnessed/felt all they claimed to. IMHO that is my overall view of the Bible as well. Folks had or felt visions, and wrote them down as the Gospel. The mind being the engima it is, they could very well be correct; or possibly their mind was protecting them during a tramatic event.
i have never experienced a near death, but the situations wherin i thought would result in my demise (gun in my mouth; knife at my neck) gave way to only two responses by me: a warm heat rolling from the back of my head down my neck, and i thought i might wet myself!!! As for life changes after the fact, not so much really.

Hi Erin
Love and regards as always...

I understand that people can take stock of their lives, I guess I just do not understand why someone might place all the reasoning on the near death experience itself.

You know me and my belief - I am not one to negate any kind of afterlife and I have my spiritual and religous belief - I guess it pains me that people can stick everything on a near death and claim their lives are changed and that they are now 'safe' because they have seen the light as it were - negating anything else that came before or that is to come.  What is free will when it's decided by an event ?  What is so free about that?  It is smply a concept I cannot understand - but then - I don't have to.

I love because I love.  I live life because it is beautiful.
Are you telling me you need to die to appriciate life, to appriciate people?  To be able to live?  Then as I said.  I do not understand it.

my oldest daughter experienced it this when she was7yrs old.  she was dead (according to paramedics' report) for minutes until they were able to revive her while rushing to the hospital. the transit police told me he had a toe tag and bag ready after receiving the call about the accident.  while recovering weeks later, she did relate to the child psychologist about the tunnel of light, going to heaven and meeting Jesus.

I've been dead, no heart beat.  Saw nothing...until I opened my eyes in the hospital.

I can't recall who said it but "I'd rather live as if there was a God and find out  that there isn't.. than to live as if there is no God and find out there is".  For me.. this holds the same for an afterlife :)

my dad had a heart attack, was in hospital, had a lethal arrythmia when he was asleep. He was resusitated sucessfully, and when he awoke, was really angry that they had "saved" him. He said he was going down the tunnel towards a feeling of happiness and joy.
He has said since that he is no longer afraid of dying, that what is waiting is good.

My dad is a pragmatic man, not given to emotional outbursts- infact, i don't ever remember him telling me that he loved me. For him to say this is equiviant to someone screaming , naked, in public.
