It sounds like he's maybe a tad insecure about Daddy. He wanted to play "He who cares least wins", and you won. You played the card he threw down. Ultimatums after just 1 meeting just don't work, and are usually made by the insecure so they won't have to earn anything- it's just easier to demand it, in a round-about way. A phrase I've used is "Poof ! Be gone !".
