I really dont think any of these candidates have a damn clue when it comes to foreign policy.

"The first step must be to get off the wrong battlefield in Iraq and take the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan." An invasion doesnt have to be thousands of troops. Most people would consider ANY attack as an act of war, and an invasion, be it of land or air space. If Blair and Bush had taken the fight soley to Afganistan, and stayed out of Iraq. They would have had more public support than they do now.

It's the same "either with us or against us" Bush policy the left-wing hates so much. Just a different way of saying it. That sounds like an invasion to me. And what Obama fails to realize is that Pakistan is an ally country with a unstable government and a radical population. If we invade, or send troops in there, or whatever you want to call it, then that population may rise up and overthrow Mushareff. So he has shifted from the idea of opening up a new group paralell to the G8 with thesame goals and just not inviting Russia? Last time I heard him explain it this was what he proposed. Since kicking someone out of the G8 was pretty tough to do without causing a real problem.

The G-8 works similar to the UN Security Council. It works with pretty much unanamity. That way no one can be kicked out.

Any meaningful group of nations would need the EU, Japan, India and China. None as far as I know would be willing to cooperate with America ignoring Russia.
