While it isn't always the case I think it is more effective when the female sub does the searching. I say this because I am the person often courted by a Dom/sub couple. Personally, I don't begin to consider anything seriously until I know that the sub is on board and the the two of us get along. Of course it is important for me to talk to the Dom but that comes later. If I haven't talked to the sub things are going nowhere fast. Some couples know this and I think it is a big part of why so many subs initially conduct the search for a third person. Just my two cents.
