EVERY Doctor will tell you it is a Near Painless procedure and if it were Barbaric it would no longer LEGALLY be able to be practiced just because you do not agree with the practice does not make it wrong. I do not know a doctor who will not perform the procedure so if a medical doctor will perform it it must still have a medical purpose otherwise the Hypocratic Oath would not allow them to perform it.

And as far as I now it is a procedure practiced arond the world STILL.

Steel

I can't respect harming a child without a good personal or sound medical reason.

Sorry.

So then you have not viewed any of our personal or medical reasons as sound?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision

The American Medical Association stated in 1999: "Virtually all current policy statements from specialty societies and medical organizations do not recommend routine neonatal circumcision, and support the provision of accurate and unbiased information to parents to inform their choice."

Many plastic surgeons also took the Hippocratic Oath but there are other factors in their lives now that have a stronger influence on their actions. I kind of wonder if these doctors still have the patient’s interests in mind when they agree to give patients ridiculous procedures they don't need or are they just finding a way to line their pockets? Some of these patients should probably be referred to psychologists instead.

I got to about page four before I made this.. Ill go back and read later...

I was taught to love the penis, be it cut uncut, sweaty from a sesson at the gym or fresh from the shower. Small large thick thin The love of cock extends to all sizes shapes colors and beauty.

I love cock. It doesnt matter how I get it... As long as I get it.

This being said, -sniffles- There is one type of cock I do not love. It is a... diseased cock, and cock that comes along with an STD Isnt a cock for me.

My (extremely strong) preference is for circumcised. The Yuck factor is just too high for uncut cocks: they look creepy and seem to always smell bad. Definite deal breaker.
Glad I'm cut, now. [8D]

To no one in particular~

I think that it is odd that the only people on this thread that keep attributing the decisions of parents regarding circumcision to religion are the anti-circumcision folks. Maybe I missed it somewhere but I don't remember seeing anyone on this thread say that they circumcised their child because of some religious dogma. Just saying....

Circumcision is religious in origin and since for a normal healthy male there are no medical grounds to be circumcized, the only other reason I can think of is socialization.

But you could enlighten me to a compelling  need for circumcision I am ignorant of.

kittinSol -> RE: Cut or Uncut ? (5/5/2008 12:28:33 PM)

You may be really emotional over this issue, but I'm not: nowhere did I imply that I knew how to raise 'YOUR' children. But you did say 'I own his ass' twice, when you so obviously do not.

That you react so strongly over a truth and a given do not make you look objective, Steel. You aren't even ready to hear the argument of those that oppose circumcision de facto as it is practiced in America today.

People who circumcise their sons could just admit that they do it by force of habit, or for social reasons, if not religious. Even in the Jewish community there is an anti-circumcision movement emerging (and that says a hell of a lot). Justify it all you like, it won't make you any more correct.

This is where NorthernGent's signature line comes in handy, if poignantly: "Tradition is the dead governing the living."

SteelofUtah -> RE: Cut or Uncut ? (5/5/2008 12:39:10 PM)

Is it not my right to defend my right?

As well as my belief?

I know I do not always have the most Popular Opinions but they are mine none the less.

I disgree however that I am not being Objective. I will accept anyones point of view as a PossibilityAnd I can even tolerate being told I am wrong but what I will not tolerate is someone who says that I am wrong because they are right.

All of us may be wrong just as all of us may be right. To question someone is fine but the second that you chastize them for your own belief you create an air of arrogance that breeds hate and tyrany. I choose to stand by my laurels PERIOD.

In my belief yes My son is Mine in that he will never be someone elses. I OWN the RIGHT to call him my son, Ownership is not always a product of material goods however we both know this is not what I meant however to keep him frm harms way I must dictate what I belive he should do by the belief system that I do OWN him in that I am responsible for all his actions. It would seem you hold to dearly to your personal definitions of Own.

I stick to my Beliefs because they are mine and they have served me well. Right or Wrong they are mine.

Steel

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Cut or Uncut ? (5/5/2008 12:45:47 PM)

Being cut is not something I ever think about. I've been that way longer than I can remember. I've had chicks tell me I had a beautiful cock. I'll take their word for it.

This argument that cutting takes away sensitivity, well, that just means I can fuck longer, doesn't it? [;)]  And that argument that I, with my unsheathed sword, have to pump harder is just plain silly. I prefer a chick to ride me, and I can get off quite nicely TYVM without moving at all.

Circumcision may have had it's roots in religion, but it is not the reason why many people make that choice today.

I have attempted to give you reasons that I feel are important enough that they should be considered in that decision making process. You, granted, do not place the same importance on them that I do. That's ok, it really is. I respect your right to feel as you feel....please do the same.

When I was making the decision on whether or not to circumcise my first born somewhat of a coincidence occurred. My own father, who was then in his 50's, needed to be circumcised because he was having problems medically. Now I have to tell you, my father is the toughest man I have ever met in my life, bar none. When I was growing up he never took time off of work, no matter how sick or injured he was. He fell from a ladder and broke both of his ankles...he was at work the next day. A sign fell on his hands and broke them in a number of places....he was at work the next day. He had rotator cuff surgery...not the arthroscopic kind....he was at work the next day. He was circumcised and he was home for a week in agony like I have never seen before.

That spurred me to research the issue more. When I was done I came away with a knowledge that yes, problems can and do arise that would necessitate the surgery later in life. Complication rates go way up. Now you may say that it isn't right to take action against something that may never come to be....but that is exactly what Preventive Medicine is. I had it within my power though, to make sure with 100% certainty that my child would never have to go through what I witnessed my father go through with it.

After his surgery....but still before the birth of my son....my mother commented on how she had wished he had had the surgery years ago because he was having so much fun with it since it had healed. I believe her words were that he was like a kid with a new toy. She also told me that he had said that he saw a big increase in sensitivity.

Add into that decision the social factors. Yes, I said that part of the reason for my decision was social. I did not want my son to be any different than any other child in that gym class. I did not want him to feel as though there was something that seperated him from his peers. Life is hard enough as a young teen without having a reason to be ridiculed....and like it or not....kids are cruel. I did not want there to be any reason later in his life that would make it any more difficult for him to meet and partner with a girl. You may see those reasons as wrong but it wasn't your decision. My boys and I are both happy with the decision I made, so while it may be wrong for you.....it was right for us. All I ask is that you respect that.

kittinSol -> RE: Cut or Uncut ? (5/5/2008 12:56:02 PM)

Where did I ever attack 'your rights'? My point was that parents do not own their progeny. However strongly they may feel about it.

He is your son. I have a son too. He too is, indeed, 'my' son. But from the use of the possessive form 'my' or 'mine', it does not follow that the individual in question is 'yours'. The link offspring/parent is there; the property is not. A child is an individual; and you may be liable for his actions in a court of law, but ultimately he is responsible for them. Indeed, even if you were responsible for his actions, it would not follow that you owned him.

I simply don't understand your mentality, but it is my right to disagree with your opinion. Even if it concerns your child. Maybe it's just a cultural thing...
