ORIGINAL: MladyHathor ok so My Dear Friend MoGa and I were chatting as Dominas do, gossip, boy chatter, etc and we were talking about fetishes that people have and are they part of BDSM or something different altogether--so we both referrred to a recently watched a re-run of CSI, where the team found a dead man on the road, with a racoon suit on. They didn't understand what a man dressed like that would be out in the middle of nowhere, but yet, there he was. Suffice it to say, what developed was a story about Furries, or Plushies as they are most commonly known. We did some research on this "peticular" play and found it quite amazing. Our first thought was well... but we couldn't have been more wrong. Participants in “plushie play” have a fuzzy fixation on toys with anthropomorphically human characteristics. A plushie doll might have big doe eyes, a cutesy smile, and human-like breasts and vagina. Some plushophiles, more commonly known as furries, dress up as animals during sex. Fox, rabbit and kitten costumes with “trap doors” for organs and orifaces are sold and traded at fetish conventions. What do you think of this practice? Do you consider it an element of BDSM? and would you involve yourself in such play? *sigh* I hate it when people do this. They post a huge, ignorant, "OMG lookitthis" post on something about me...dozens of people reply...all of them are mistaken....and I feel like I have to post, because oh no, someone is *WRONG* on the internets. Look what you made me do. Hi. I'm a furry. I think if you're going to rely on CSI for your introduction to a sub culture, consider that your view of it, and related research on it, might be very far off the mark. In fact, what you just said was rather insulting. Of all the people in the thread so far, only RavenMuse and SirJohn seem to have the right idea. There's furry fandom. Then there's fursuit sex (which CSI referenced) and then there's the stuffed toy love. They're all separate. Furry is just...a label. A way of expression. It's like saying "im goth" or "im alternative". It's an statement to what someone is generally interested in. Furries are not commonly known as "plushies". It's an overlap thing...some furries are into plushies...not every "plushiephile" is a furry. Ditto with the fursuit thing. I don't own a fursuit, raccoon or otherwise. If I did have one, I damn well wouldn't have sex in it, because they're very hard to keep clean as it is, and also, ew. All of my furry friends...don't have fursuits. Or get turned on by sex in one. Nor, do any of us find ourselves wishing we could screw our stuffed animals. Those sorts of things is like saying "All bdsm subs and doms have foot fetishies. Yes...some people in bdsm do have foot fetishies. It's probably a very small number, though...which is how it is for furry fandom. There's a very small number of people who wear fursuits, an even smaller number than that who have sex in them or want to screw plushies. If you want to look to the media to explain sub cultures, you might as well get an actual reporter to do it. This is an article about an actual furry convention, and what its like. As for the discussion...what do I think of it? Furry fandom: Its a way of expressing my personality. If you're not interested in it, swell, then kindly keep your nose out of it. Fursuit sex: its not my thing, and its between two adults. So in other words, I don't give a d***. Plushie sex: its not my thing, and its between an adult and an object. So again, I don't give a d***. Is it related to bdsm? No. It's related to sex. And yea...looking back at this post 30 minutes later...I have a habit of strongly wording my opinions. So don't take what I said personally.
