I have not really heard much about this type of thing.  I do not find it appealing to me, and Daddy was not fond of it either when I asked Him, so I think it's fair to say that it does not have a place in our lives.

i know lots of furries and ponies who are into the head space and non sexual...there are groups that get together to play and meet others..there are great websites for them, :)  There are even furries and ponies who go into different "head spaces" or are different animals at different times....some of them are close friends of mine...even though i am not interested in that type of "head space" i feel they are members of the BDsM lifestyle due to the "head space" a kin to "Dom or sub space" and the variant of masochistic things they are interested in. Not to mention the Domiant (or handlers as they are know) to control them.  just my 2 centspamela**Master Dragons considered slave**

The CSI episode was showing off the way over the top extreme of the Vegas lifestyles, the Fur conventions and hammed it up to make for good television. I dont think anyone actualy associated with the Furry commnity did anything but rol their eyes and think "Oh great, thats what everyone is going to think of if they  find out what I am into now."
I have the same reaction when they have shows talking about the Vampire subculture, like the bloodbank guy who thought he owned souls or the chick with propheria.

And don't forget the Black Veil as "vampire Bible."  Bah.

As for the actual topic of furries...I have to agree with the "don't get your info from CSI/other media" group.  The media will never portray any subculture in anything less than the most sensational light.  And chances are, it will be completely wrong.

I am both a furry and a submissive.   To me Furry is just another paryt of my life and belief systems.  I'm a crossbreed actually of ferret and Snow leopard.  They both represent the different aspects within myself and are a part of who I am.   I draw art of my " fursona"  and I also made a full fursuit (( no my master and I do not engage in anything kinky while I wear it)) I do wear my suit out in public,  I'm part of a costuming group that does children's events,  as well as attending conventions and trying to dispell the nasty all fursuiters are filthy perverts myth.

Why do I have my own suit?   Because I got the fur cheap and I also am a n avid fan of costuming,  it allows you to be someone else for a while.  I love dressing up and such,  so I made it to see if I could and if I was any good at it.   My suit doesn't have any SPH's ( strategically placed holes)) nor does it have any thing sexual about it.  When I wear it I feel closer to the animal aspects and personalities I have.  As for mixing BDSM with my furriness?  I'm always a furry but this

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/Failarhya/P1010006.jpg

is as close as I get to combining the two.

As for my Fursona?  She goes by another name than my birth name and basically is just a piece of my personality that's more vibrant than the others.  I do go by my fursona's name alot on the internet,  She's kinda my alter ego.  I also created her name when I was really young and it has stuck as a nickname for me,  though others may laugh.  She's Failarhya and she's a piece of me.

I enjoy both the BDSM and Furry aspects of my life but the two are seperate even if both are a part of who I am and my personality.  Though it is fun to engage in pet play from time to time ^^

Not a furvert,  thank you very much ^^

I find any kink facinating, even if I dont understand it.  As long as it is consenting adults.  So, to each his own.  As for BDSM, I dont know enough to make an educated guess.

All I know is I like mine shaven......lol.

Hmm interesting... I identify as a pet. More precise I feel rather feline at times. I enjoy curling around a Master's feet and snuggling in his or her lap... Punishment consists of cages and having to sleep on the floor. I even have a pet bed  >^^< *sniff sniff* now I just need an owner...

Really?...puppies wearing saddle bags (made for dogs) and pulling puppy carts....jumping through hops as a trained dog would and the head space for both puppy and handler was something to see as well....
poines who only liked to dress up and run around being silly with no head space involved....
the most interesting duo was the pony drawn cart with the dalmation "running" under it...this won some very nice awards.....
although this girl agrees that the plushies may not be close to either one...but the puppies, kittens, dragons and ponies this girl knows all play together...and work together to get things done.
just this girls two cents

But if they wanna park their furry little butts under the BDSM umbrella, I really don't care.

As to any thoughts about plushy/furry types - whatever floats your boat,

I agree...

Well, a simple google/wiki search would do wonders.

Pony play, from what I gather, is sexual. Acting like a pony (or puppy if that's your thing) and being ridden and such. Then when said scene is over life moves on.

Furry is, as BDSM and goth and nerd, a lifestyle. There are lot of different furries. Some think they're actually animals and won't even refer to themselves as humans. Some just think they have animal spirits. Some like fursuits. Some are more casual and feel a kinship to a certain animal's behaviors and feel it relates to them. I could go on but you said brief.

The plushie, from what I gather (since it's not my thing),  is about liking to engage in sexual intercourse with stuffed animals. This doesn't have to do with being a furry but some furries do like plushies.

Pony play in NOT always sexual in fact the 100 or so pones i know do not engage in sexual acts while in "pony" space. i have been a "Top" for ponies many times...here are some link to help....

We have a huge group of furries in town..none of them are goth..though a few are "nerds" by their own admitance...LOL .....though i am not one i support them just as i support allot of "kinks" that are not my thing....i am a firm beliver in community and support....

By sexual I don't mean actually having sex. As one of those links called it "erotic." I use the term sexual since it stimulates sexual ideas/feelings/etc. It's an erotic fantasy.

And I never called furries goths or nerds. I was comparing it to the lables/subcultures that people might be more familiar with.

Okay...

1) you guys are using an episode of CSI to define your idea of what this kink is about? (Am I the only one who sees the error in this?)

2) Your terms seem a little off base:

Furries = people into anthropomorphic animal character cosplay. Similar to athletic mascot costumes. Actually a subset of science fiction/comics fandom. No sex involved.

Furverts = the folks who like to have sex in those same costumes. Actually a subset of the fetish BDSM lifestyle.

Plushies = people who are REALLY attached to their stuffed toys. Actually a form of advanced masturbation.

3) Ponies, (of which I am one, when I am lucky enough to find a Dom/me partner into it) and puppies are a form of erotic role play. No fur costumes involved. Usually more leather or latex. We get off on the idea of being "less than human, but prized animals" (As oppsoed to the fur suit crowd, who actually like to be animals raised to the level of being human.) Being treated as a pet by our dominants is just another way of tripping the "submission switch" in our heads.

4) if you really think fursuit sex is really popular, let me suggest this: go into your closet, and put on a ski suit, or two pair of padded winter overalls. If you have an electric blanket, stuff that into your shirt and turn it on "high." Pull a stuffy canvas bag over your head...

Now have sex.

I don't know about you guys, but the closest I'll get to this is fucking my sub while she wears her fur coat... inside out.

I'd like to just point out that not all furries are into fursuits. Some are, but not all. For many, it's more so a state of mind then a state of dressing. At least in my own experiences.

*ish too damned lazy to read three pages*

Some people link it to pony play or puppy play, or even a newly growing form for kitten play, where a human is dehumanized into playing as those particular animals.

It's not 100% of the time correllated, but for many, it is linked.

Since it's not something that is even remotely considered nilla, most would place it under the Umbrella that is BDSM.

As would people doing puppy/pony/kitten play.  It's a power dynamic, being trained, Owned, etc etc.

Some people that are furries, plushophiles, etc etc....for fucks sake there's too many goshdarned terms out there for even -me- to keep up with and I'm a furry...don't liken it to the average BDSM puppy/pony/kitten play.

For some that engage in those things, it's more about being made to do it by their respective dominant, whereas some of the difference comes for some with actually -relating- to their furrsonas.  It's yet another mask, a character, something we feel comfortable roleplaying as, and for some it's rather 24/7, albeit toned down at the appropriate times just like any of us would say...at work..around family.

Some of us identify with certain kinds of animals because of the idiosyncrocies, temperaments, personalities...etc etc.  And we've also been accepted by some Native Americans that have spirit animals..  Its hardly the same thing, and I personally would never completely equate it or even try to, out of respect of Their Ways.  I've a few NA friends that accept me as I am and my furrydom.  Just as I accept them and their spirit animals.

Yes yes...I forgot about that for a moment..

I personally am not whatsoever into furrsuits, catsuits, or anything of the like.  It's part of my personality and how I move.
