Wind Energy In Rock Port

Rock Port only has a population of 1,316 but last week they threw the switch as America's first ever community completely powered by the wind.

This is good news and cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.

It'll be interesting to see what the maintenance costs are for these turbines over the long term. If they're around the same as or less than the rates they've previously paid for getting their power from the grid, this may be a good deal. Plus, they may be able to sell their overage back to the grid, putting a little coin in the community's coffers for that inevitable "rainy day."

Yay for Rock Port for proving that we can get off the steenkin' foreign crude, one small community at a time.

Cool, have you check out Greensburg Kansas lately? They got wiped out by tornadoes a year ago.
Rebuilding a green city...a good chunk is already built.

My old dom lives there so I get more of the scoop than you get on the news.
