There have been many posts on here from new subs, especially those in sub frenzy... and it seems they are all willing to throw away not only their power, but their common sense, financial rights, sanity etc....

I'm a new sub. I've been in this lifestyle for less than two months. But, I come with intelligence, common sense, life experience (albeit vanilla) and a willingness to learn....

I've found a wonderful  Dom. He is kind, considerate, and he wants to teach me all he knows... and even better... he wants to learn new things with me....

We live in New Zealand.... the far reaches of nowhere.... maybe that's the secret ;-)

I kneel at his feet,.... I call him, Sir,... I do anything he asks of me.... but he earns that right... by trust and much more....

V

There seems to be two types of posters on Collar Me.... the completely frenzied idiots..... and those that have been around long enough to have some good advice and stories....  thank you to those I have gained insight and wisdom from... ;-)

Edited to ask a question... as I seem to be getting lots of views but no comments - lol.... What would those of you who are experienced in this lifestyle wish to convey to those of us newbies who have life wisdom and common sense already?.... i.e. something you only learned after a long time in the lifestyle maybe ;-)

Here’s something I only learned after a long time in the lifestyle and I am one that has been around long enough to have given good advice and a great many stories: that I come with intelligence, common sense, life experience and yet am still a completely frenzied idiot.....does that help?

summersprite -> RE: Submission (5/8/2008 1:16:38 PM)

Thank you to everyone who has posted helpful, interesting replies. I do read widely on the messageboards to try and learn as much as I can, and I'm aware communication between Dom and sub is one of the keys to having a good relationship. And yes, I probably have a touch of  'sub frenzy'... it's impossible not to when you have a wonderful Dom in your life... ;-)

Apologies to those who didn't find my original post humble enough.... lol.

darkesttdesire -> RE: Submission (5/8/2008 1:36:07 PM)

one must learn to crawl before they walk, finding ones feet is but one tiny step forward into the journey of life,, but eventually one will be ready to climb the highest mountain, conquer the Universe.... walking into the unknown without a map is always risky, you have to know where your going if you expect to reach your Destination.

HCWT1 -> RE: Submission (5/8/2008 2:01:32 PM)

summersprite..............live,learn and enjoy every minute as if its your last.Many years ago i took things for granted,you know this goes on for ever.Well sometimes it does'nt.Had five and a have years  ( best years of my life) with the most wonderful of Dommes,befor she was taken by cancer.
Regrets,yes i have many,but as we subs/slaves are the strong ones ,we go on.

I would like to add that having the above does not mean mistakes will not be made still. I like to think that i also have the above but also recognise that i have made plenty of mistakes, sometimes repeating them. What is most important for me personally is that however long it took (touch wood) i have learnt from them.

MadRabbit -> RE: Submission (5/8/2008 2:05:57 PM)

Avoid the infinite peril and misery that oftens comes from following the "A sub should do this" and "A dom should do that" comments.

(But ironically, I am basically framing this statment this as an incomplete sentence, lacking the "You should avoid the infinite peril and misery..." [:D])

summersprite -> RE: Submission (5/8/2008 2:58:58 PM)

I have made many mistakes in my life... and I'm sure I'm going to make many more, but so far... (touch wood or whatever else prevents bad luck - lol)... I'm having a very positive BDSM experience.

But,....I'm not going to change my font colour, shout SIR in capital letters on here, and try to pursuade everyone he's the best Dom in the world....  no disrespect intended to the lovely lady who did that....

If I am experiencing 'sub frenzy', it's a very pleasant emotion and one, for the most part, I'm in control of. I think if you come to BDSM as a fairly rational, sane person... there's no reason you can't continue to be that person.... even if you have moments of sub frenzy.

I would, but I'm not designed to emulate some of the things I appreciate most...like Super Mario Bros.

I'm rather new myself, so I don't have any wonderful wisdom to share, but I wanted to say welcome!

darkesttdesire -> RE: Submission (5/8/2008 7:17:05 PM)

Welcome , i think.... nnnooo just jokin, everyone is 'new' at some point, dont be scared to imput when you get the urge, is always something of value to be learnt  even from a 'newbie' and I am sure you have some wisdom about you...I often wonder when one knows when not to class themselves as a newbie.... could be when they learn the ropes maybe  lmao
anyway just wanted to make you feel welcomed... [:)] now that i have done my good deed for the day  i should attend to pressing chores  yuk

In the main i would say i also over all have had a pretty positive experience, i wouldn't still be around otherwise i'm sure lol. However my point was having common sense etc does not preclude us from making mistakes even as we get further into the lifestyle. I'm pretty sure there are many here who are certainly not newbies would tell you they still make mistakes and themselves have common sense etc.

And that is your perogative. I personally if asked by Sir to change my font colour would do it. I always capitalise Sir or Him etc out of respect. Nothing wrong in our personal choices there. Nothing wrong in yours not to do so either. As for the lady who tried to persuade hers was the best Dom ever! Well to her he probably is.

But it is these moments of 'sub frenzy' or whatever you wish to call it that can sometimes make us forget common sense etc and just run along without a care for the consequences. Just because you have not run up against problems yet does not mean you wont. Neither does it mean you will on the other hand.

There is a big difference between having common sense, intelligence, life experience and actually always using them, putting them into practice.

simple... don't stop using your wisdom and common sense that you have gained from your life experiences thus far..... just because you are new to the lifestyle is not an excuse to make Stupid choices within the lifestyle.

LOL- that makes me giggle. I don't try to make my Daddy seem like He's the best Dom in the world because to most, He isn't. To me, He is. But I do talk about Him and our interactions because that's where the experience I have comes from. And I thought I was doing well with controling my gushing about Him.... darn. lmao. I capitalize Sir, Daddy, Dom, Master, Him, etc out of respect to Him- it's a habit I picked up here. And I change my fount color in everything, even emails, because I love pink and I hate normal black ink- I want color in my life. [:D] If that is sub frenzy, that's funny! (And I didn't take it as disrespect, I just find it humorous, but I guess some might.)

No.  There is at least a third type.  Those who entered into this with enough sense from day one to not be a "completely frenzied idiot."  We didn't all start there, thank God............luci

aleshaDreams -> RE: Submission (5/9/2008 8:11:32 AM)

I see knocking of opinion in this tread indirectly directed at specific comments which has gotten under my skin enough I am out of control and can not stay quiet on for the simple reason, oh yes the common sense reason, I don't believe that knocking another down to pick ones self up is the most formuable way of introduction.  The reality is we all all come from different backgrounds which does include different exposures throughout life, but there are things within the human make up which are relatively constant that can be predetermined by pattern and behaviour.

When someone on the board gives an opinion I believe that their opinion is based on knowledge of past experience hence the only reason they would relate it and transfer such information.  Behavior is learned however some behaviour is acceptable in some societies yet goes against the grain of others.  To judge in blanket statements that people are idiots, stupid or whatever your flavoured word for the day is are generic in nature and have little value in the overall picture.

To laugh at someones suggestion outright is plainly rude and childish, and to suggest your common sense and life experience is better than others in not so direct wording is vain.  Give yourself some self respect and think about what you say before engaging your thoughts out loud.  Your own ignorance shines more than the font color you chose, it shines the wonderful color of shit brown.  So perhaps getting your head out of your ass might be the best suggestion for you of wisdom and life experience.

All can play all the word games you like to make yourself seem like the wonderful subbie you might be for your dom, however there are many with more elequence of action prior to engagement which has been brought to your attention to think about incorporating.  You are rude, vain and really have more to learn than you think.

With all the respect I can muster here, which is none.  ad.  And yes I am fully aware I am being rude cause you pissed me off, I will take any and all consequences for this action with pleasure; my life is sustained by how I feel and I don't want you in it so am alienating my anger now - be gone from my thoughts oh wise one !!!!  That is my repentance and now I can move on with life, thank you !!!!

that "sub-frenzy" is a misleading term.

if it was referring to violent mental agitation, delerium or wild excitement, the kind that causes a person to not be able to function in their everday life or even might require hospitalization to get under control---then this slave would find a term like "sub-frenzy" to be useful.

but it isn't.

it's used as an excuse for irrational, immature, uninformed, uneducated, even stupid decisions that folks decide to make...outside of a delerious, violently agitated mental state, as they go about their day, completely coherent and functional...the same as they did before they "discovered" the BDSM definition of submissive.

"sub-immaturity" or "sub-stupidity" probably wouldn't sound as catchy, though.[;)]

welcome to CM!

Hi lizcgirl,
I wasn't actually referring to your posts... apologies if it seemed like I was ;-) I was talking about a thread that was started by someone else not long ago - and whoever she was, I can't remember her name and wouldn't repeat it if I did!, ... anyway she squealed and gasped in her posts about her love for her Master and how hot and great he was etc etc, ...which gave me some idea of sub frenzy gone mad... ;-)
Your posts are lovely and gentle and very sane in comparison and I enjoy reading them.
And yes, I use a capitial S for my Sir too...

Ouch.... Having a bad day?
I'm middle-aged. I have lots of life experience elsewhere.
I have virtually no experience of BDSM before a couple of months ago.
I was only giving my opinion about sub frenzy (sub-immaturity, sub-stupidity - thanks Mercnbeth for the synonyms) and as I clearly state I'm new to the lifestyle, it is only a newly formed opinion.... and one I'm sure will change as I learn more.
And actually, if you ask my Sir, he will say I have had moments of 'sub frenzy' too.... I'm only human, apparently - ;-)
