What BDSM movies (I mean mainstream or indie) would folks out there recommend? I am currently auditioning a potential novice.

Call me confused as well...do not understand the reason either, when you say auditioning ..does that mean you want her to act on film/camera as well??? If so ..then they should be first starting out in adult acting classes ... for example http://www.littletheatreonline.com/act.htm

If you want HARDCORE S&M google Master Len Movies and order away. Len is a GREAT guy and having done 9 or 10 workshops at his place I can tell you these are NOT for the faint of heart.

Screw it, Why not? I have seen worse.

I feel it is better to give a little and watch it hurt, then educate the ones that are already sure they know what they are doing.

And it can be good lessons for those that watch from the side lines.

Too often for newbies ...they confuse movies with real life eg Story of O and believe that is how real life BDSM should play out therefore filling their mind with a false fantasy life and expectations. Much like the old Castlerealm website did, and they came here expecting love and roses from every dom they met, often ending up in disasterous abusive relationships instead.

Thank you.. I had wondered what happened to Master Len. Great Lords in Gossamer skirts, it has been a while since I have chatted with him. We used to ranged Alt.Torture along with John Warren, pammie and a few others. When you next get a chance to see him do me a favor and say Hi from poenkitten, we crossed paths in Vegas at a play party but never got to actually play as my flesh was defeating Sister Sledge and Guardian ( I wouldn't safeword..I was having way too much fun) and ML had one of his Slaves with him.

Sigh... So good to see the Good Ones are still above ground and torturing the next generation.

Secretary is a great movie for novices, it gets you in the mind set

. I also want to recommend which this movie is a classic I am sure you have seen it, Nine and a Half Weeks is a good one too ,great ideas for play. I also want to recommend The Story Of O, and Boxing Helena which I think in my opinion is more fantasy than reality, maybe it leans toward more experienced players but it is also a great movie. Hope this helps

How it looks on the screen is rarely how it is in real life. Things can look safe that are not and dangerous that are perfectly safe. If you go for the hardcore movies like Slaven, or the ones on Brutalmasters site, you will possibly be watching alone in a dust cloud. They are hard core, very dangerous unless you know what you are doing and really should not be practiced on anyone save a hardcore masochist.

If you are looking for the lighter core movies, then you have gotten some good examples, that I would add Exit to Eden onto.Yeah, yeah I know it was a travesty of the book (which is a travesty of the life but pretty) but it has some key elements in there. Consent, the fact that the desires have to be on both sides, that sometimes just service is enough, and of course that the desire is found in people from all walks of life and economic strata.

You can also seach the newsgroups for snippets of movies. the Insex movies are ones that are most often posted, but warning run a good virus scanner before opening any of them. http://www.insexarchives.com/ is where their archives can now be found since they have been sold.

the tortured D/s relationship in the Fountainhead is pretty intense. as usual, the book is better.
then there is the Night Porter, more non negotiated madness.
neither of these films should be used as an example, yet A/anyone interested in D/s should try to catch.

then we have equus giving pony play a bad name ;)
and for a fun, psychotic musical try Marat/Sade...

finally, Russ Meyer's Up! is not to be missed, although all of his pictures do seem to have that special something.
