Not a cartoon, but Batman with Adam West did that for me. I mean, Catwoman tied Batman and Robin up about every episode she was in...

Felix the Cat (1953 version, not the 1920s one).  That cat with his bag of trix was pretty cool.  He affected my ideas of what was cool or not.
Tom Teriffic (1957) was a pretty smooth dude even though he used to get in a lot of trouble.

Clutch Cargo (1959 - 65) because like my dad, his dad took him with him on his travels and had a pet dachshund too.
Q. T. Hush (1960) because of he remained smart, calm and deductive amidst chaos.
Courageous Cat (1960 - 62) because he was a cool dude… a real James Bond type of male role model with spiffy gadgets.

Robotech (1985)
By 1985 I was successfully entrenched in the music industry and ended up being torn between the medical facilities and my recording studio.  The great music and powerful conflicts in Robotech took me away from all my worldly concerns.  I loved that show so much, I used to wake up early to watch it with my slave.

Rocky and Bulwinkle,  Boris and Natasha, Mr. Peabody.  Another one, not really a cartoon, but was on the radio.  Chicken Man He's Everywhere He's Everywhere.

SpaceGhost was pretty avant garde… perhaps the coolest cartoon from America.  Did you know the 90s version was a comeback/remake/revamp and the original was in the 60s.  I didn't watch it for a while whenit first came out until my friends told how wild it was.

Speaking of avant garde… anyone else a big fan of the slightly macho Japanese TV series (and theatrical release) Cowboy BeBop?

i liked Felix the Cat a lot. so much so that i named my first cat Felix.

the only other cartoons that i liked were the Flinstones and the Jetsons. my childhood was one of  chaos.even my choice of cartoons, reflects my then need for some normalcy in family.
