because this just happened to me simultaniously on here and on yahoo.

All of a sudden I get 2 random communications from 2 men I've never talked to before.  Now, mind you, I am not instructed to snub men.  I've been given the ability to determine if I can have engaging conversations.  Basically, I'm allowed to talk with those that aren't poaching.

So, I cautiously talk to both of these people, keeping as neurtral as possible because I don't know what either of these guys intentions are and I get slammed for not encouraging conversation, because my replys are too short and are not open and welcoming.

Maybe it is a case where they didn't want to get caught with their hands in the cookie jars, maybe they really just were looking for some stimulating conversation, but for goodness sake, I can't know how to react if I'm given barely any idea about which direction their minds are going.

I far more appreciate those people who are actually willing to elucidate their intentions.

So-- are we near a full moon or something?

Maybe they were doing the same, not knowing what your intentions were either.

Bit of an assumption but judging by what you have written here neither did you come out and say i have a master so am only looking for chat.
Things work both ways.

i find HNGs a hilarious bunch who have some very funny traits, and you have just come across one or two of them. If you had been forthcoming and more engaging you would probably have been accused of giving false signals, of not being a tw00 slave, or they would tell you if you were theirs they wouldn't let you speak to any strange men!

We have a game, Master and me, as to how many lines into a conversation with a stranger it takes them before they ask if i have a cam, and then if i get quizzed as to why not!

Funny, but most haven't even been near your profile, and even those that have can still be more HNG than looking for genuine interaction of the friendly kind, there is no fathoming some folk!

I believe when someone initiates conversation that it is their intention of making their intentions clean.  I also find it presumptuous to assume that everyone who initiates conversation needs to be told that they can't have me.  I understand that not everyone wants me (I know, shocking).

I know quite a few people have been put off by people who they've e-mailed (here and on other sites) to pay them a simple compliment and they've nary a "thank you" back, but have been informed that their compliment is not welcome as they are taken.  I find that I don't wish to be that person, either.

I agree but there is usually a way to slip something in that doesnt make you sound like you are presuming anything.

Yep, rock and a hard place.
However the situation you describe just sounds like badly communicated intentions. You didnt say you werent interested, they didnt say they were.

yeah, maybe after a few more hundred years practice I will find a way to ease into the disclaimer without feeling that I'm jumping the gun.

After the gentleman here got a bit pouty, I basically told him that he didn't give me any indication that he knew my relationship status or what his intentions were and we seem to have gotten over the initial awkwardness.

*grins* I tend to be rather upfront... I don't DO hidden agendas, if I have an agenda it is right up front in the first Memo. Many have gotten "This isn't an 'intro' mail because..... and I simply want to respond to 'X' in your profile/journal/post from the boards.

Similarly many of the mails I send, if I am talking with an Owned girl I sign of with "Regards to your Master", just a little nod of thanks and respect toward Their Dynamic.

I appreciate communications such as that.

I love compliments and I do answer every compliment usually with a simple "thank you" even if they have an agenda.  But when they tell me that it's a simple compliment with no agenda, it's even more welcome.

Personally for Me, vague gets nada---one or 5 word cutsie notes gets nada--if someone wants to talk--then express im some decent sentences and with clarity--and if permitted to write and petition---then follow through--seems the delete and block keys these days have become My friends!

I get accused of short responses, or being non-communicative on random IMs all the time.  I tell them this, "I didn't message you.  I simply responded to your greeting.  It is not my job to come up with topics for you."
Generally when some random Tom, Dick or Harry, messages me (a feature I recently blocked), I ask them "Hello, what brought you to message me?"
Sometimes that gets a direct response and we can move on from there.
.But if they don't know what to say, I find short responses are best.
