I think you would do well to find someone that you can have a local relationship with. Not someone you have to text or telephone to speak to. (and then wait, and get permission to do that)
Yes, there are those this works very well for, but the possibility for abuse of your trust is a bit higher in this situation, and the possibility of contentment goes down. (I have acknowledged it works for others...I'm just giving advice that would work for me)
And, as others have said (in other words) never treat someone as a priority who treats you as an option.
Find someone who cares at least as much as you do.

Open communication from both sides is extremely  important in a good relationship, that means you should be able to ask questions and expect an answer though it may not always be the one you want to hear without fear of being disciplined or punished , and yes you have a right to ask what the expectations of the relationship are , if he is not willing to discuss then there is a problem

Well OP..after checking out your profile and seeing that you are not an ingenue..and have some experience in WIITWD..I wonder why the confusion?..I am sure by now you have figured out what it is you seek in your partner, I am sure by now you know your wants and needs to fulfill you..and I am sure by now you have seen,experienced and advised others on similar circumstances...so my best advise would be to go and read your opening post, like it was one from someone else...what would you advise the OP to do or not to do?....Tempting
