my Master requires me to write in a journal twice a week.....one has to be before Wed morning, the other by Sat night. In this journal i write down my feelings about my fantasies, things i have learned, thoughts about submission, and since i have trouble with confrontation and such, it is a venue for me to describe feelings of possible discontent or such thoughts as these. It is a great tool for starting a conversation between us.

I agree.. to a certain degree.  I'd like to think that I could say what I needed to say face to face.  But I find that, in a relationship, sometimes it is easier for me to write things out and then present it to my partner.  Writing stuff forces me to THINK about what I want to say, then phrase it well... something I am not always able to do when face to face ( and that's for good stuff and bad stuff). Sometimes, for me, emotions get in the way of the meaning /intent of my words, so writing allows me a filter so that there is less chance of the emotions clouding the issue.

That sums up My exact thoughts about a diary/journal/blog .... not so much what is written but that it requires that internal examination of the thoughts, feelings and ideas inside oneself. It's also an oppotunity to express things that can simply be forgotten in the heat of a moment. For Me there are mental images that I'm unable to decipher until I've sat and thought about what they mean to Me.

Personally I don't keep a journal or diary, but then My email outbox is normally full of things that have been bouncing around and my sub gets the pleasure (or anticipation/fear/concern) of reading those through the day.

*quick reply*

i have one. Started it a couple days after i just started learning about bdsm. This was my own choice after doing some research and read that it was a good idea. The only person that has ever read my journal was my old play partner whom i fell in love with. He had asked if he could read it cause i had joked about how far i had come and reading my journal made me laugh at some of the things i use to think. Sharing my journal with him was something very personal and special to me. Those words on paper are my personal thoughts and emotions.
