A social networking site (Faceparty) has deleted most of its users over the age of 36 because it claims older users pose a danger of sex offending. It claims to be forced into the action by the UK Government, but the part of a law it cites is not yet in force. Faceparty has deleted what it describes as "a huge number of accounts" from its social networking site in recent weeks. It lists 'over 36 years old' as one of its reasons for deletion. "We understand that only a minority of older users are sex offenders, but you must understand that we cannot tell which," it says in its explanation of the deletion of accounts. Source.. Out-Law.com Ok , "Faceparty" was or is rather mainly a swingers site, but I have no axe to grind with anybodys personal flavour of kink. However to condem all because of the actions of a minority using such a blunt instrument as age beggers belief.

As a would be sexual predator, this is excellent news for me. All those younger people on that site now think that theyre in a safe environment where other members can be trusted. I shall be registering forthwith and digging my plastic mac out of the wardrobe. E (age 22)

I was under the impression that there was supposed to be a minimum age limit? If this is the case, then why are the webmasters not policing the site correctly? I was alerted to the presense of a 14 yo was using bondage.com many moons ago, I emailed the details and evidence, the little git had used a credit card as well and the young lady who was claiming to be 20 was banned toot suit! It was only by sheer chance that she was found out, a link to facebook where her true age was revealed! Now if anyone had been caught meeting with her they'd of been charged with sexual grooming, prosecuted and more than likely found guilty and jailed! The lady who discovered her deception only came to me as she was aware of my then employment in the legal profession for advice. I'm only too glad she did as I believe she saved a lot of people a lot of grief.

The same situation has occured here on "Collarme" , with persons even blogging about being under 18 on thier profile.

so, when you turn 18 you can buy cigarettes, you're expected to vote... then 21 comes and you can drink, and now 36 is when everyone turns into sexual predators? forget being an astronaut or a rockstar, I can't wait to grow up so I can be a sex offender. offensive sex is the best.

Of course! It all makes sense now! I started transition at age 35 and according to the "common sense" operant in our culture, transsexual = pervert = homosexual = paedophile Wouldnt it have just been better to restrict unmonitored contact between members with (say) five years or more age difference between them? E

Huh? Someone please attempt to explain to me the 36+ age concern and sexual assault, abuse, etc? We just had a rape case in this region where a 21 year old is charged with raping a 13 year old (I think the person in question is now 14). I can recall cases in the news where a 10 year old boy was charged with sexual assult against someone who was 6 or something like that. Age is not a factor in who can be an abuser. Age is really only a factor in statuary rape after all. If you can explain that, maybe you can explain to me why all these under aged folks need those social spaces online. When I was that young I was so busy with school work, the drama productions, band, chorus, academic bowl, various clubs plus church stuff and family that I sure as heck didn't have the time to spend hours online with folks I'd never meet face to face. Yeah, I have more time on my hands now so lucky or unlucky you all.

You aren't really suggesting that it is some how perverted (beyond our own, desirable level of perversion) for an 85 year old man to be flirting with a 70 year old woman? or a 45 year old man to be interested in a 33 year old woman? the entire time my children were growing up, i kept writing to AOL, (we had AOL for the kids to use, and they were restricted to the childrens area and were watched with over the shoulder supervision while online, and all their mail was read) that they let youngsters have a profile - a special kids only profile, with plenty of handy restrictions. Most people are not offenders. it is safer to have people know that kids are kids, in general. of course, nothing makes up for just monitering your own kids.

Sounds pretty common for a swinger group that is hung up on youth and beauty. "Let's find an excuse to get rid of these ugly old people-they are so unnattractive."

Unfortunately I've come across 28 cases this year where people both male & female have meet up with people off of social networking sites where the person asking for the meet has turned out to be underage and have lied about theiir true age. As yet we do not know if the people caught out will be charged, but we have found the liars are being treated as victims! It smacks of giving matches and petrol to an arsonist, and the arsonist burns down a hotel they are the victim as they didn't mean to set the fire really!

I think they need to delete those accounts also, think of the children!

I agree - sounds more age-ist than anti-sexual predator. So, is it more common with the pathetic over 35s to be sexual predators than the under 35s? I would have thought that sexual predators would be practising their evil from puberty onward, rather than just starting at 35. the good thing is is that sooner or later, they will be banned from their own site (snigger)
