"However - why should one sexual relationship preference/practice be legitimized over any other?" Well, isn't that how it is now. One sexual relationship preference/practice is legitimized over all others - this being straight/hetero. The slippery slope argument as posed above is laughable. Just check countries where it's legal like Canada. Tell me same-sex couples do marriages of convenience any more than straight couples? Got data on this? How do you base the idea? Also on to marrying dogs, flowers, cars or whatever else. They're not human, they have no 'age' so to say, and they cannot consent. Edit: I'd add that I'm not so much in a rush to get married. Maybe once I find Mr Right, even if it is Master Right hehe. As it stands I get many health benefits, because of national health insurance. Ah and yes, MtF pre-op here as well. I don't list myself as trans because it could easily mean transgender, and it's not some temporary thing (like it can be for some, transgender is an umbrella term after all), it's my life. I'm also going to eventually be legally female, forever and ever, so I'm just pre-empting the legality of it all.
